We really enjoyed our time at Mt. Pleasant Cottage. The owner was really good to work with. The cottage is quaint and in a great village, and with great views. We literally walked out the front door, down Lathkill Dale, and over the fields to Haddon Hall (highly recommended). It was a highlight of the trip for our kids. I'd definitely recommend others to stay at Mt. Pleasant Cottage. We especially liked that the owner let us pay by the night, since we weren't staying an entire week.

We stayed here for 5 nights and we weren't really sure what to expect from it but all in all it was a lovely cottage that surpassed our expectations.
The rooms are all spacey, none more so than the master bedroom which is very airy. Word of caution - the windows are nice and big (for the views) but if you're like us and require blackout curtains you may need to follow our lead and use the spare blankets as second curtains!
There were so many blankets and towels that this wasn't a problem and meant that it was a very well equipped cottage. All the kitchen was full of anything you could ever want and more with one exception - no vegetable peeler that worked. Having said that we got one from the co-op and left it there so there should be one now!
Myself and my partner stayed upstairs in the master and prefer showers which was located 2 floors below us, so we had to do towel dashes, but other than that we couldn't fault the cottage itself.
The garden and the conservatory were the real reward of this cottage; the view was fantastic and the conservatory meant we could enjoy it even when the weather got temperamental. It also allowed our two dogs somewhere to stretch their legs, although truth to be told they mostly lay asleep in the sun after being tired out from walks up Mam Tor and the like.
Location-wise it is very good for the southern area of Derbyshire but about 20-30 mins from Castleton/Hope/Edale area where a lot of the more adventurous walks are. That's not to say there are no walks in this area, as there are many and very nice too, but if you are wanting some long hilly walks expect a 20min drive to them. A bonus of the location is that it is so close to Bakewell that you do have access to a decent Co-op store and all their cake shops (etc).
Top tip: We picked up the keys (very painlessly) at 7:30 and had arranged a online grocery delivery to the cottage for 8-9pm so had all the food delivered to us for a minimal charge, meaning we only had to pick up odd bits through the stay. I'm not sure if all the big 4 deliver to this area, but the one we used (Sainsbury's) did and made it an even more painless check-in period for us.
Would we return? Without a doubt - hard to imagine a more cosy, homely and complete cottage for such a decent price.

A walking holiday with our 2 adult sons and dog! Very comfortable accommodation, especially the 6ft bed with en-suite bath, and superb views from the large conservatory and pretty patio garden. Welcoming, dog friendly home and Karin very helpful. Great walks from the cottage through the pretty village to Lathkill Dale Nature Reserve and river, a 2 minute walk from the local pub and a short drive to Bakewell. What more could you want - wonderful!

We booked mount pleasant cottage as a family break for our Easter break and we were not disappointed. Karin made the booking process very easy and provided information needed before our stay. The cottage is gorgeous and such a great place for relaxing after exploring what the Peak District has to offer and a very nice touch was a box of chocolates waiting for us on arrival. The cottage is split over 3 floors and there was more than enough space for all 4 adults, a child and a dog. Our toddler enjoyed exploring around. The cottage has all facilities you would need the washing machine being a big bonus after getting muddy in the fields. The views from the cottage are to die for, waking up to the view every morning made it even more enjoyable, our toddler enjoyed spotting the cows in the fields!! The pub in the village was great very friendly with lots of food choice and great views also. There were plenty of walks straight from the cottage which meant not using the car for the week. We will definitely be booking up again for next year!!!

We booked this gorgeous cottage for a mini break to get away from the stresses of London and boy are we de-stressed! Despite the storms, we were perfectly happy relaxing in the amazing conservatory reading our books and playing some of the numerous games the cottage has. The cottage was just perfect, situated within easy reach of Bakewell but in a very quiet location, the bedrooms were immaculate, the kitchen equipped to a very high standard and it was so nice having the log burner roaring away whilst enjoying a glass of wine!
