Stayed at Batemans this week in room 3 ( superior double ) attending a birthday party.
Vey nice large room with comfy 4 poster bed, good size bathroom, very good courtesy tray

Full credit to the chef and the waitering staff... Food for the 40 persons function was excellent, all served piping hot. Restaurant is perfect for functions. Great breakfast.

Many thanks to owner Jade as well as to Ashley, Lucy, Lindsay for a wonderful stay.

PS: next time toothpicks please

Having arranged a 80th birthday party for 40 guests with some accomodation I make the following comments.
Set on the outskirts of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, a traditional family hotel with a very comfortable homely feel.
Absolutely excelllent from the first contact with the owner, Jade, to the last guest leaving.
Lots of useful help and advice.
Very friendly, professional and enthusiastic staff.
First class food, variety, preparation and WOW those garlic mushrooms .....
All guests staying over had a great experience, comfortable and most certainly well fed with the biggest breakfast ever.
Jade should be very proud of what she has achieved and her wonderful staff.
Ron

Room Tip: All rooms comfortable, hotel in a very quiet location, no external disturbances

We stayed overnight as a family group in 3 rooms, eating in the restaurant for for evening meal. Food was very good both evening and breakfast.
Rooms were a good size and clean and tidy just let down by the showers. In one of the rooms the shower hose was split and in another the temperature kept changing.
Overall a good one night stay enjoyed by the whole group

Great location. Staff friendly and pleasant and breakfast was great too. Rooms a good size too. However interiors are tired and look worn. The exterior door frames around the door lock were down to the bare wood in places and clearly needed a lick of varnish. In the bathroom the sealant between the tiles and ceiling was peeling off and the joins between the papered wall over the bed needed sticking back down as the paper at the joins was coming away. Other than this not bad at all.

We stayed one night as we were passing through Derbyshire. The room was clean and comfortable. We ate in the bar rather than sit in the restaurant as it was very quiet, but chose from the restaurant menu and were not disappointed. The service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good. The price was very reasonable. We had a pleasant stay that was good value for money.
