L'Orchidee is a wonderful place to stay. I was there around Jul-Aug 2012. The service I received from the staff was excellent. The beautiful ladies at the front desk were always pleasant and smiling and knew where to direct me to get food, transportation and other needs. Even the chefs, and all other persons I met working at this hotel were professional and gave excellent customer service. I felt comfortable, the place was always well kept and I felt at home. I even started to refer to the place as "home". I am really comfortable in gaving this wonderful place this review.

Thumbs up to you L'Orchidee. Keep up the excellent work.

We arrived after a long flight from the UK to a lovely warm welcome. Our room was number 6, a spacious well appointed room on the ground floor. The staff were very helpful, professional and charming, nothing was too much trouble.

There is a small restaurant open some evenings, but the reception also provides leaflets for local food outlets which deliver, and also orders food from a website specialising in local restaurants. When the food arrived the receptionist insisted on plating it up for us, providing cutlery and plates

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here

We also used Manwari to guide us round the area, Andrew Welch is an excellent guide, passionate about the area and its history and cultural heritage.

I recently spent 4 days in Trinidad with a group from Atlanta, GA. Upon arrival to to this quaint boutique hotel we received excellent service that was most accomodating to the needs of our group of seven ladies. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Wifi service was good and I was able to use to make inexpensive calls home. The breakfast room was our first stop each morning. We lingered over the continental offerings as well as the made to order eggs cooked per our request. The kitchen staff was friendly and attentative. The front desk staff was great as well in offering us a personalized boutique experience. I would definitely stay here again.

This review is long overdue.....I first stayed at L'Orchidee in December of 2011 with my boyfriend From the initial planning of the trip with the emails back and forth the staff were always prompt on their response. When my boyfriend and I arrived Christine was at front desk at that time she has such a pleasant personality. The room we stayed in was wonderful, spacious. Breakfast was nice think I gained a few pounds :). After that first experience I decided in December 2012 when my daughter and one of my friends and her baby and I were travelling to Trinidad there was only one place to stay and that was L'Orchidee we got the suite for the 4 of us and once again we received such great treatment. One of the things that stood out was how helpful the chef was to come play with my friend's baby to keep him occupied so she could eat. The staff at L'Orchidee are really nice and the place is always spic and span. The only thing thats missing to put the icing on the cake would be a pool :) Keep up the good work L'Orchidee

This hotel is situated in a suburban area of Port of Spain and is a short walk to Queens Park Savannah and other attractions and/or to the main road which has passing taxis which will take you to downtown Port of Spain.

In this boutique hotel you get what may be considered "standard" in a room. That is a queen sized bed, cable television, WiFi, a desk and a couple chairs and a chest of drawers and a fridge to chill your drinks. The bathroom is rather large and fitted with a shower (no tub) big enough for two. The wardrobe where you hang your clothes is also in the bathroom. You also have a kettle with tea, coffee, creamers, sweeteners, and coffee cups. There is also an iron with an ironing board at your disposal. There is an a/c with a ceiling fan with dimmers to set a mood. All in all it was a cosy room and we just loved to get under the covers on the comfortable bed. The room was kept quite clean by housekeeping staff who will be by everyday (like elves) and clean and fix up the room and bathroom. Replacing towels, sheets and the like when you're not looking... Like magic.

You do get a breakfast every morning and it is all very tasty. The standard menu consists of cereal, watermelon, bananas, bagels, bread. For drink, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. However there is some variety and there are various local dishes being severed a different dish every day such as fried fish (it may have been shark) or melongene, etc. The breakfast cook will come out to you and explain what was being served. She will also offer to prepare either, eggs, ham or both you were not too keen on what was being served at that time. After breakfast you can relax and take in some fresh air on the deck which is surrounded by the garden and all the sounds of nature. The hotel does not serve lunch or dinner and these are outsourced at a nominal fee to you. You need only ask the reception in the lobby what is available.

What we really liked was the staff. They were all warm, friendly and accommodating such as asking us if we wanted beach towels (we said we were gonna hit the beaches) as well as engaging in small talk. Top class.

Special mention must go out to the breakfast cooks who are wonderful and always made us feel comfortable and at ease and always left us feeling very well fed so much so that we usually had late lunch.

A special thanks to the lobby staff who were always available and helpful with regards to our requests.

Kudos to housekeeping... For making keeping the place so clean and making it seamless.

Overall we give this hotel full marks and look forward to staying here again in future.

We arrived at this off the beaten path boutique hotel after long flights from Medford, Oregon to Trinidad, to find our room wasn't ready. GM Christine immediately changed our room to one that was ready and she brought us two very welcome cold beers, as we settled in for our 2 night stay. Our room was quiet and well appointed with WiFi, TV, fridge and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was OK, but lacked the usual amenities expected these days: a hairdryer, nice soap and fluffy towels. Breakfast is included and is served in a first floor dining area. It's a combination of a light buffet, with made to order egg dishes. The room becomes a wonderful French restaurant at night. Zazou Bistro, opened mid January, is good for a special treat night.

The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to few restaurants. You can walk to downtown Port of Spain, if you are up to a busy road that doesn't always have sidewalks to give you a chance to avoid being run over by the cars speeding by!

We had one day to explore before heading to Tobago. The walking directions we were given by the front desk were not accurate to the various points of interest where we were headed. We managed to find our destinations by asking locals for directions. The hotel should have a better map of their own with accurate location of the hotel to town and points of interest for guests.

We spent some time at the museum, which has a very interesting history of the country and Port of Spain. There was also an exhibit by a Trini artist, whom we met on our way out. We had a very interesting conversation with him!

Lunch was at a small shopping area in the heart of POS to avoid a downpour! Nothing special, but fun to eat with the locals on their lunch breaks.

Dear Ashland Traveler,

We thank you for your kudos on our breakfast buffet and your experience dinning at our newly opened French Restaurant, Zazou Bistro at our Hotel. This hotel is warm and cozy. Not anything like your traditional hotels. Its in a quiet yet safe part of Trinidad yet very central to several hot spots on the island. The room has a homey feel to it and there is a private chef that you get to meet at breakfast time. They also added a french bistro that comes in on evenings for dinner reservations. The french onion soup was delightful. Check it out. Whether you are going for carnival or just to relax it really is a nice hotel.
