Very well run hotel with friendly staff, great golf courses and a good spa. I only have two areas that I feel the hotel need to work on.
1) The service at breakfast was slow, both mornings we had to wait 10 -15 mins before we were served coffee !! I like the majority of people like some caffeine as quick as I can get it in the morning. Otherwise the breakfast was good.
2) Can't be sure with any other rooms but beware of room 308 on a weekend with a function, you will hear the bass from the disco beneath.

Now for the good bits :
1) The evening meal was outstanding, great choice and all very well executed.
2) The golf courses are in great condition and a good challenge.
3) My wife had a massage that she loved.
4) We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast (with rounds of golf) deal and I think it was extremely good value at £199 per person for 2 nights.

Would definitely come back for another weekend without the kids.

My partner bought me a voucher for a Stress Relief spa day at this hotel; very welcome after the loss of my mother. I arrived at the hotel - what a beautiful spot in the Suffolk countryside!. Although very busy, we were welcomed at the spa reception and shown to our reserved table in the Bistro.

A very friendly lady in the Bistro brought us drinks of our choice whilst we were asked to choose a 2 course meal for lunch from a menu- a lovely way to start the day. Abbie, one of the therapists then came over to explain the treatments we had chosen and to show us the facilities.

Both treatments (full body massage) and the Mud Rasoul were fantastic and my friend and I felt totally relaxed after completing them Wrapped up in robes and slippers (provided) we then had our delicious two course lunch (with wine) and after having a short doze on the loungers outside, we revived to use the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

All staff were fantastic - friendly and very helpful and genuinely pleased with the positive feedback we gave them at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend the day and the hotel and will return - for the spa and possibly a game of golf!

Thank you for your lovely review. The Rasoul Mud Therapy Experience is pretty amazing, isn’t it? I am very happy to hear that you and your friend enjoyed the treatments and the food provided. You made the right decision having a short doze on the loungers – they are definitely comfy. I hope we will be able to welcome you back to try out our golf courses soon!

We arrived on a Sunday about lunchtime to play golf on the Constable course, which is hilly but the weather was fantastic, making it almost a pleasure to walk. In our party we had the use of a buggy but were given no advice on where to use them except for them to say not to take them into the rough as it would get flattened making it very difficult to locate and make contact with the ball. This proved incredibly frustrating as when we got to the rear of the first hole the buggy stopped working, we thought it had broken down. The lady at the halfway house told us it was an alert, and that the buggy had to be backed up and to go around the hole the other way. This happened a few times during the round, there were no signs anywhere showing that you shouldn't enter that area. This was very frustrating.
After a quick refreshment at the halfway house, we finished the back 9 to more beer then off to the rooms, which were ready and comfortable. We got showered but found we only had one set of towels in the bathroom. Thinking this was an error we spoke to reception on our way to our meal to be told housekeeping only put out one set in all rooms, the rest are in the wardrobe!! If a room is being used for a double occupancy, why would you put a set of towels in the cupboard and expect people to look there?
We ate in The Oaks restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent across the whole menu, the staff were attentive and the choices on offer beautifully presented with lovely flavours.
Breakfast the next morning was in the same place with a good choice on offer, although it was busy and staff were struggling to take orders with so many people arriving at the same time.
We checked out before going out to play the Gainsborough course, which was slightly less hilly. Staff in the pro shop told us there was a group in front of us that were going to let us through if they held us up. It wasn't a problem for the first 5 holes but then we started to get held up, waiting on the tee's & on the greens. Staff did come out again to check after we had done 9 holes where we explained what was going on. They very quickly sorted it out and we were allowed to play through.
They have a very nice pro shop, swimming pool, leisure facilities and shop there and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
It was an excellent deal and we would definitely go back again.

We appreciate you posting such an extensive review. It sounds as though you made the most of the weather during your stay and had a good time on our courses despite a few hiccups. Thank you for raising your concern about the buggy. We take your feedback very seriously and I will relay this information to the staff at the Pro Shop in an effort to make things clearer for future guests. Hope you will visit again.

Golf n spa facilities, huge rooms but nothing special. Comfy bed, clean room, large warm pool, steam room, sauna and Jaccuzi - grouting could do with a good scrub, damp visible along corridor to pool n being repaired. Beer flat n warm. Wasnt tempted to eat there. Lift not working. adequate, nothing special, Pretty much 3 star.

We stayed at the Stoke by Nayland golf and spa hotel in July and had an excellent stay. All round the facilities on offer gives you plenty to do. The golf course's look very challenging, with plenty of lakes surrounding the holes. A nice size pool, squash courts and snooker tables make it a great location for the sporting type, only wish i was a few years younger,so i could have a go. Evening meal was of a very high quality, however breakfast was not in the same bracket.

My hubby and I had a fantastic night away at this amazing venue. The room was an excellent size as was the large comfy bed. The staff, helpful friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. This is the first place I have ever been to where the daily menu included food I could eat. No discussing an optional dish on the day but a well thought out menu that for once made feel included and with choice from each course! We had notified them when we booked but at best in the past with other venues I have had my own menu with one choice from each section. The spa facilities, clean with towels provided with the sauna and steam rooms spacious. A fabulous location to get away from it all and feel thoroughly spoilt.
