Celtic Guest Houses, The Old Rectory

After being impressed by my first visit to 'The Old Rectory', I visited again! A lovely and relaxed stay in this delightful little find in Llanmartin.
Myself and my partner were warmly greeted by a very poilte receptionist, who showed us to our modern and clean en-suite room. Our questions were answered in regards to breakfast- to which we had a full cooked breakfast at 'The Old Barn' over the road- and anywhere near to visit during our time.
I had a great nights sleep, with the full power shower and 'snack box' a delightful addition to what was overall a fantastic stay. We will certainly keep this hotel in mind next time we visit.

First stay at these guest houses, and will definitely return! Usually try and stay at Celtic Manor, however if you don't mind no spa / gym, then this is a perfect alternative.

Pricing is very good, and good parking facilities.

The room was superb, really comfortable bed and everything was spotlessly clean, and quiet location.

Great bathroom finished in marble, with a fantastic rainshower. Waterfall style washbasin wasn't great, (poor flow of water) but everything else was!

Tea, coffee biscuits, water all free - and a basket full of sweets / crisps etc if you needed anything.

Sue, who manages The Old Rectory was the perfect host - breakfast was superb with a great choice of cereals, fruits, pastries, cheeses, hams + more!

I would highly recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: double room perfectly adequate for 2 people

I can't speak highly enough about this property, stayed for 2 nights in the family suite. Exceptional customer service from moment booked to the moment we left. Nothing too much trouble. Room amazing, lots of little touches, breakfast first class, all fresh and made to order. Sue the owner couldn't do enough for us. Location excellent, only 40 mins from Weston Supermare. Local pub does excellent food, huge portions, 2 mins walk away. All in all we can't wait to go back.
Thank you Sue and your staff for helping make our w.e even more special.

Room Tip: Family suite - exceptional

The Master Suite you stayed in is really a special room with lots of space and a private terrace. We even enjoy a sneaky night in this Suite ourselves when it isn't booked !! We hope to be able to welcome you back soon. Best Wishes, Garth Davis.

We booked this hotel on our road trip, we needed somewhere to saty on our way to north wales. We almost wished we said longer since it was such a nice hotel and had a perfekt location for us who were on the road trip.

I am a regular at Newport and this B&B is one of the best I have stayed in.

Its quiet, peaceful, has very well appointed & clean rooms with comfy beds & a great shower (some rooms have bath tubs but not all). Hot Breakfast is cooked to order with a nice complimentary spread of cold cuts, yogurts, fruits, juices, breads etc. The outdoor area is quite nice too, weather permitting.

Its 5 min drive from Newport so not too far out. There are a few good dining options if you are willing to drive for 5 min to Magor (check out the Golden Lion), alternately walk next door to the Old Barn Inn (watch out for the big portions).

Room Tip: All rooms are quite good but advise Sue on the size of the party as a couple of the rooms can be a b...

I recently stayed at The Celtic Guest house in Lianmartin with my sister and elderly mother. Although my mother is very able for her age i did notice there was good disabled access and fittings in the bathroom should they be required.
The warm and professional welcome we received set the standard for our short two night stay as nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortably furnished and decorated to a high standard with modern shower rooms en suite. The whole property was immaculately clean.
The continental breakfast though not included in the price was well worth paying extra for .
They don't do any other meals here but there is a public house serving hot food for most of the day only 2-3 minutes walk away which we did use.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family as it is not far into Cardiff on the M4 yet far preferable to a big impersonal large hotel.
The location made it possible to spend the day in the city yet return to the peace of this rural setting
I would hope to return , well done Sue and staff.

We stayed here for one night and the location was perfect. The room was lovely with a beautiful ensuite bathroom. It was a short walking distance to a very nice pub & restaurant along the road.
However our stay was marred by a faulty smoke detector which set off the alarms @ 4.30am!! Everyone had to evacuate outside in the cold but there was no one on site to attend to the situation. We waited a good 15-20mins for someone to arrive and turn off the alarm. Needless to say this rather spoilt our stay.
