“Service=poor, atmosphere=unprofessional! Stay away!,”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

This weekend the family decided to celebrate some good news, personal triumphs and momentous occasions by dining at Ciao Baby. Luckily our family achievements left us in such good spirits that even the nightmare that was the unfold in our dining experience would not be the dire icing on a scrumptious cake.

With the family living in and around Edgworth for over 20 years, the family decided to not follow the routine of visiting our usually dining hotspots and instead decided upon Ciao Baby based on comments on this very website.

We arrived mid-afternoon to find more staff than diners. Not a bad scenario as this was a good sign that our service would be quick while the staff had the time to show love and affection to what they produced. Surely with few diners that would mean more effort into service and the quality of the product produced? How wrong was I?

Having had 7 years managing a successful restaurant in Cheshire, I have never came across a more shoddy dinning service. No disrespect to a supermarket cafe, but the service they provide is of a higher standard than that witnessed at Ciao Baby. Staff effortlessly wondering around, blatantly chatting each other up and flirting instead if focusing on their jobs. I was clear from the behaviour if those employed at this establishment that either it was the managements day off or lunch break as I nor any other respected establishment would never had let the employees get away with the poor performance, lack if care and motivation and also the lack of basic knowledge of dinning room etiquette. .

While nobody is expecting a 'ritz' level dining experience fit for a queen, the least you can ask for us basic standards. The staff at this restaurant lack real interpersonal skills. A key ingredient by any business when working with customers.

The first problem arose when ordering food, one diner had a specific dietary requirement and specifically requested one slight modification to the food. The waitress gladly wrote down so far so good. But, when the food was to arrive that slight modification failed to be fulfilled. This was clearly marked in the ticket as when the food was taken back to the kitchen, you could hear the staff arguing about why it had not been cooked this way.

Our dinner then had to wait 26 minutes for that dish to be sent back, in this time the other diners had eaten their meals after waiting a significant amount of time to prevent their own food going cold.

In this time we were given no apology, no warning if time to produce a fresh meal and were just left to fend for ourselves. This was after two drinks orders going missing in this time, but to add salt to the wound 4 other waiters/waitresses come to Take drinks orders, while we waited for our original order. We were not the only diners to have this problem as the table opposite ordered a bottle of wine and that failed to materialise also.

The one waitress who originally served up was excellent, as for the frequent harassment of other colleagues in particular the arrogant, intimidating and aggressive male waiters left a lot be desired. I found it uncomfortable to sit with family and watch these Alfa-males work harder in flirting with colleagues by unhooking aprons and slapping them n their backsides awkward to say the least.

My advice when Visiting this restaurant is stay away!!!! You would get a friendly, more helpful service and a lot better food if you cooked it at home or at least purchased a ready made microwave meal! Appalling!

A for the reviews on this website I can't help but wonder are they written by the p.r. And marking department of this establishment. Be warned dinners!

“c!ao baby wow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

This is by far the best restaurant in the vicinity , I and my family are very much regular patrons of this establishment , it is fine dining and a wonderful ambience , yes it can be a victim or is of its own success being very busy at times but having sampled most of the menu it truly is a class above , I / we have sent food back for being not quite right apologies have followed and the food rectified , and the service can be overwhelmed at times but they work their socks off to cater for all needs, most members of staff have a welcoming smile and the joint owner Rob is also a welcoming friendliness which adds to the success of the business , for anyone to rate this so poorly is a fact that they have no degree of food quality and preparation or they are over demanding in their expectations to be treated like royalty in other words pushy people who think they are above everyone else and they should be treated with preferential treatment as they are the only patrons in the restaurant . The prices also reflect the quality at this establishment and there are not many places where you can dress well and it is expected alike from fellow patrons , want to go somewhere else in the area with your best t- shirt on a Saturday night be my guest ! we will have the best seats in the house .
Well done C!ao Baby keep my seat warm.

“Poor service and overpriced”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

Has I have already said the service was very poor, the food average and overpriced. It seems that the staff took more attention to flirting with each other than making sure that good customer service was given to the clientele.
