We went with some friends who were visiting from london for Sunday lunch everything was excellent. Highly recommend. There was ample portions and high quality food. Great for a walk before or after round Thornton reservoir just down the road..

Nice village pub with a welcoming atmosphere and a good place for a gossipy night out.
The waitress was delightful and very attentive.
The food was simple pub fare and nice enough but sadly not exciting. Portion sizes were quite large and offer good value for money.
Overall a nice place if you're passing.

The Steam Trumpet had been recommended for its Sunday lunch, chose the 2 course for 9.95. Meal was average for the price. Little choice of veg, only roast potatoes Dessert was ok. Would recommend a dessert where custard is served though as ice cream was offered with most. Maybe carvery would be better.

18 of us visited the Steam Trumpet for a 80th birthday party last Sunday. The service was great, and the food was amazing. Everyone received their chosen meal on time, and furthermore it was piping hot and consistent in quality for each and every course. The staff are very polite and helpful. "Add this pub to your list of great venues", you will be impressed.
Well done to the chef, and all concerned.

We often call in for a drink at the Steam Trumpet. Called in tonight, saturday evening, without prior booking. We were seated in a lovely position, served a lovely cold glass of Thatchers Gold cider and ordered our food, despite the restaurant being very busy! The staff were very attentive and friendly. We had to wait approx 40 mins for our meal but it was worth every minute of waiting. We had whole plaice, olive mash and tarragon and lemon sauce. All we can say is 'Oh Wow, totally mind blowing food! We have eaten many times at Gordon Ramsay's and Rick Stein's restaurants and all we can say is that The Steam Trumpet is way up there with em all! Our only gripe is. . not enough sauce, we could've drank a pint of it!! This pub is a little gem in a relaxing setting only a stones throw from the beautiful Thornton Resevoir, and we cannot wait to eat there again!! Would highly recommend the Steam Trumpet to anyone who wants a top quality meal. You won't be disappointed!!
