“A Delightful Stay”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Just returned from a one night stay courtesy of Groupon. Mark, the manager was extremely helpful and friendly, as were all the staff we met. The pub was very cozy and the evening meal was very tasty. The full English breakfast was the best we have had for a while. The room was very clean and recently refurbished and was very quiet even though above the pub. Would definitely recommend. Just wish we had booked at least another night. Had a lovely walk around surrounding village which was very pretty, and when we asked Mark why it was called the Sir Alfred Munnings we had a very informative account of its origins. Book today you wont be disappointed.

Booked this via Groupon for our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely place. Nice quiet village and very friendly. Staff couldn't do enough. Actually show to our room not just given the key and left to find it. Excellent food and service and reasonably priced. Highly recommend you try the home-made chocolate fudge it's delicious. Hope to return soon.

Have just returned from a 2 day break, thanks to groupon, and had an excellent stay. Yes it was quiet on a sunday/Monday night as are most pubs now, but the meals were excellent, as was the service, as was the room. Try the Steak and Ale pie if it hasn't all gone!! The family are trying very hard to make the pub work and we hope that 'proper' country watering holes as this one survive and thrive.

Booked this hotel, via groupon, for a surprise 1st wedding anniversary. I really chose well. What a smashing little hotel, slap bang in the middle of a lovely village. The manager,Mark, and his family and staff were wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent with a wide choice and reasonable price. The surrounding countryside is marvellous and we took several walks where we saw deer, hares, and all sorts of birdlife. By coincidence it was the hotels 1st anniversary of re-opening and on the Saturday evening live music by way of 2 members of band played. All in all a lovely weekend. We would recommend it to anyone looking for pleasant stay in lovely surroundings and served very good food by equally good staff.
