Don't expect ambience or candles on every table. This is a south Indian restaurent and you will get what it says on the tin at very reasonable prices. Very tasty and faultless. I can't wait to go back. I hear the morning buffet is one to watch for!!!!!

Originally from India, having spent more that 4 year in Manchester, we always used to feel the 'absence' of an authentic tasting South Indian restaurant - we were so excited when Chennai Dosa opened this year and we aren't disappointed!

You will find this one of the most authentic South Indian (Tamil) restaurant this part of UK. The restaurant is basic, not meant for fine dining but devoted to quality food at cheap prices.

If you are new to South Indian food, I would recommend you start with the Breakfast Buffet (which starts bit late around 10:30 am, and can be an excellent brunch option) and experiment with the traditional breakfast dishes - from various Dosa (Rice Pancake) to Idlis (Steam Rice Dumplings) and Medu Vada (an Indian Doughnut, crispy and seasoned with salt and black-pepper corns)

Their Lunch buffet is extremely authentic and they don't go overboard with zillions of dishes and instead have a 10-12 authentic South-Indian fare. A-la-carte is good with the 'popular' Indian dishes on order (even some amazing Indo-chinese, the way we make Chinese in India)

If you have been to south India or are from India, or if you have not tried this cuisine before, do give this place a shot and I strongly believe that you will not be disappointed.

Went here last night and was bowled over by just how good it was. Friends have moved walking distance away and must admit that we would probably never have visited otherwise - restaurants in shopping centres aren't exactly top of the list of options when you're thinking about where to eat. Friends had said it was good though and so I've been looking forward to going for a while.

The interior is pretty basic - tiled floor, cheap tables and chairs, posters on the walls, no tablecloths - but the welcome was friendly and there was a definate buzz to the place. The thing that appeals most about this place though is that the food is so very different to the westernised Asian restaurants you will find on curry mile in Rusholme or at your typical local curry house. There is no chicken tikka masala on the menu, no keema naans, no flourescent mango chutney. As others (mostly) have said, this is the real deal, and is lovely and charming and wonderful for it.

And its cheap too - the bill came in at under £31 for 3 of us. A pint of Cobra is just £2.99 and the mango lassi was excellent. We didn't have dosas this time but shared three starters, two main course, one rice and two chappathi - plenty for three adults. We tried things we had never heard of as well dishes we had a pretty good idea what they were and we absolutely loved it all - the fried rice was specially good and was packed with crunchy veg. The mutton dishes were melt in the mouth gorgeous too - no grisle or lumps of fat.

Service was excellent throughout and the food came out promptly and with a smile. This place has transformed my views of Indian food and everyone really should try a place like this - it's definately to be recommended.
