... But it soon turns into fairly sanitised fun.
The safety system is well thought out and would appear almost foolproof; however, this is Aerial Extreme's undoing in many ways - it just feels too safe. My daughter (12 on our first visit, 13 on our second) and I have been twice, and have now defected to "Go Ape" as their courses offer more variety over a larger area for much the same price.

We visited the course as part of a hen do and had booked to arrive at 10am on Saturday, so had to the course to ourselves, which definitely made it more enjoyable. Most of us are rock climbers, which meant we were not scared by the course, but it was still fun to overcome the obstacles.

The course
There are two courses - a lower course ending in a lower zipwire, which then leads onto a higher more challenging course, with a longer zip wire. The full body harnesses were very secure, so you never feel unsafe. Unlike some course, the karabiners run smoothly through an overhead wire, meaning you do not need to unclip between each obstacle, which makes the experience more fun. There are a number of obstacles, including balance beams, wobbly bridges, leaps of faith and cargo nets. The features were often repeated several times around the course, getting harder and higher.

The location
There is free parking directly next door as part of the Trafford Centre and there were lots of spaces available when we arrived. However the car park did fill up throughout the day and parking in the afternoon was much more difficult. The course is built in a stand of trees between the Premier Inn and the Trafford Centre, with the motorway and sewage treatment works nearby. The location is unfortunate, as it means the attraction is not as scenic as some other courses, but fortunately the trees are thick enough for you to ignore the ugly neighbours, most of the time.

The instructors
Jamie and Pete were great, friendly and very professional. They gave all the safety info we needed, but were not overbearing. They even used our camera to take lots of shots while we were in the trees. As the course was still empty when we finished, we got a second chance to go around the small course, which was a nice bonus.

Overall verdict
It was good value for a fun morning activity, in a convenient location. At busier times it would be less fun, as groups would have to wait for other participants ahead of them to complete the challenges. But having the course to ourselves meant we had a great time.

Great for a dey out when the weather is good. Challenges your vertigo but if you relax, it is totally safe (I think)!! Very good for groups (I went ther for a birthday party).

We had the course to ourselves mid-week. Physically just the right amount of challenge, and an adrenaline buzz (dad 50, son 13). Took about 1 - 1.5 hours to do both the basic course and the advanced course. Very friendly and professional staff. They even asked if we would like to do one of the courses again. We paid 3 pounds extra to buy gloves (or bring your own) - this made it easier on the hands.
