Lovely to view all the different Wedgwood through the ages, very interesting. It's amazing when you see how the Wedgwood technique was devised all those years ago and they still use the same techniques now. It's such a shame that so much of the fine British china is now being produced abroad, it's something we should be proud if and kept in the UK.

There has been a lot of money spent on updating / upgrading the Wedgwood visitor experience. The descendants of old Josiah (the originator of this particular type of ceramic ware) must have been really innovative how they decided to move the family's factory away from the smoke of the city (Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent to be precise) and shift 5 or 6 miles South along the Trent and Mersey canal to Barlaston. Excellent hands-on activities. (eg : make your own pot)

We visited on the way to Sutton Coldfield as a previous visit had been many years ago. We tried to download a 2for1 voucher from the Visit Stoke website but our computer was having an off day. But the museum was very interesting and well laid out. It was very quiet during our visit...we must have timed it right! We only had a short time, so the next stop was the Factory Outlet which was stuffed with bargains. If you want to stock up on quality tableware, then a detour off the M6 is a must....you don't pay just to get into the Factory Outlet and there's free parking. We picked up some bargains which we are stuffing away for Christmas presents. Next time we visit, we will do the Visitor Centre and Factory Tour.....and hope the computer is working!

We visited this as part of a red letter day we had been given as a gift. We expected a rather contrived group tour but what we got was a relaxed self guided and self paced visit round a number of the elements on site....museum, visitor centre, outlet store, and the hand on experience area...also included were morning coffee and 2 course lunch. other than lunch people were free to do the bits they wanted in whatever order and for as long as desired. the highlight was the experience part where we both got to throw a pot which will be fired and sent on to us later

Interesting but expensive. The cafe was outstanding; delicious food and well presented. Staff very courteous.
