We went to Alton Towers early in the season and stayed at another B&B who recommended The Cross Inn for dinner. The food, ale and hospitality at The Cross Inn was great! With a nice open fire it was very cosy too. We also noticed that they do B&B, Caravans for rent and also pitches. So when we went back for Alton Towers' Scare Fest in October we thought we'd go here instead as it had all we wanted on site. We went with a few others so decided to rent a caravan instead. It had all we needed, comfy beds with plenty of quilts and blankets, lots of heaters to get warm (although it wasn't actually too cold) and all the utensils we needed for a hearty breakfast before hitting the rides again. For us it was just what we wanted and plan to use The Cross Inn next time we go back to Alton Towers!

My husband, sister and I, ate here one evening whilst staying at another hotel which was very unsatisfactory, I have reviewed it also, (Whiston Hall), we live in Scotland and were planing to visit Alton Towers the next day.

As I said, Whiston Hall was terrible for food and drink so we went in search of another 'local' to eat at.

We found The Cross, it was very friendly when we went in, the bar staff treating us as if we always went there, which was great. Plenty of choice too in the beer area (which please the hubby) and a huge menu full of interesting food, as well as the pub staples. The pub was very busy, but we were still served quickly and courteously and there was more than enough room in their non smoking section for us to get a table straight away.

The food was great, obviously freshly cooked and really tasty, the portions too were very generous. I must reccomend the pudding called, toffee apple pie, absolutley fantastic!!! Well I was on holiday!!

As we had booked our (awful)hotel via the internet, we were really peeved to see that this wonderful restaurant also offered B&B, camping, caravanning and hire of their mobile homes for periods of one night thru to a proper length holiday. If we had known we definately would of stayed here, their phone no: (--).

If their accomodation and breakfast was anything like the fantastic restaurant and food (and hospitality) I think it will be great.

Last thing to mention is that it is no more than 10 mins from Alton Towers yet out in the country so lovely views etc.

Feel free to contact me if you want any further information.

ENJOY!
