“Superb fully equipped cottage, with lovely views and very close to Alton Towers.”
Reviewed April 7, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We have just returned from our 4 days stay at Ann's superb fully equipped cottage! Lovely views, cosy, very close to Alton Towers and with parking right in front. My little one had an amazing time!! Amazing sunset views!!

Ann is a very nice lady, very helpful and always nearby to answer/help with any queries.

“Clean but wouldn't come back”
Reviewed September 14, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Booked 3 nights in September 2014, stayed only 2. Travelled with my wife. First impressions are really nice, well located holiday cottage, everything appears clean and well organised. Major quibble we had was with the comfort of the sofa / seating and particulary the beds, though clean, these were not to standard and frankly very uncomfortable. We stay in hotels regularly and came on tour direct from another holiday rental, the sofas and matress in this place are simply not to standard and need replacing. We left a day early as we simply couldn't sleep. Also if you plan to visit the pubs in the village, be back in daylight as there is absolutely no lighting in the approach and yard of this property, which given thats its very uneven underfoot is simply dangerous. Overall, wouldn't recommend the place. No mobile coverage here or wifi either.

Management Response
Sep 21, 2014
We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay. This is the first complaint we've had about the comfort of the seating and beds. The mattresses on the beds are soft in terms of firmness which many of our customers like, but it's impossible to cater for all tastes. We have since tried the sofa bed and found the cushions could do with refilling which we're planning on doing shortly.

The access to the property is via a private lane so there is no street lighting which is fairly standard. A torch is provided in the cottages for our customers to use.

We don't currently have wifi at the cottages but we do get mobile coverage for Orange and O2 networks.

“A lovely cottage ideally situated with picture postcard scenery on doorstep.”

Wonderful and peaceful. What a great location. A lovely village store and Public house nearby. Alton Towers just 17 mins away, Bakewell and Buxton 30 mins away, A Tesco Extra in Longton which is also 30 mins away. The journey to all these routes and more are breathtaking, with patchwork scenery and rolling hills and the Peak District for walks is just on the doorstep. Local potteries a must, we picked ( Manifold Craft Barn) warm and welcoming, both our children 8 and 6 were kept busy painting for a couple of hours, a great souvenir to take away to remember their holiday.
The cottage is outstanding, you have to set your alarm otherwise you will not wake as it is so peaceful.
A real pleasure to meet Ann and Dave, very accommodating and friendly, which matched the cottage, with the Milk in the fridge, tea coffee sugar and jammie dodgers... and much more ...this was perfect after a long drive from Suffolk.
We would definitely stay again and highly recommend the cottage.
We stayed 6 nights...we still had so much to explore.
A superb break away.

Lovely place. Great views and open space. Wonderful to have milk, tea and coffee available when we arrived to a warm welcome.
No wifi so take lots of DVDs and downloads!
Extremely quiet and relaxing, children loved being outside and going to the pub for dinner :)

“Home away from home with beautiful garden and country views”

We love this place and always stay here when travelling from Australia. Ann and Dave are extremely friendly and welcoming. The accommodation has everything you can possibly need and more. It suits families, couples or friends. There is a local corner shop and butchers. It is the perfect location to walk in the country or while visiting Rudyard lake, Chatsworth house, Dovedale or Alton Towers. I have stayed here three times and will definitely come again. Ann and Dave always make us feel at home and you are free to do as you please. Everything is excellent, you will all love it. I especially enjoy sitting outside in the late afternoon watching the racing pigeons getting their exercise. A real friendly and safe place for the family, you will love it.
