I booked this last minute for the following week as we were going to Alton Towers as we have the Merlin cards we like to go for a couple of days to make the most of our time up there so decided to try to find accommodation a bit nearer than the premier inn we had stayed in before When we had been shown the room we found out that there was a four poster bed which was just that a bed with the posts no curtains or anything quite pointless even mentioning it was there really then there was a very tired sofa bed which was suppose to be suitable for my son aged 12 and daughter aged 10 ? luckily the lovely lady who cleans the room came to our rescue and got a z bed which she put in while we were out , we used their restaurant the 1st evening but instantly regretted it the meals were not of a good standard I ordered the scampi which was the size and shape of large peas this arrived with cauliflower ? when i said I asked for jacket potato & salad the chap was going to get me a bowl of salad and leave the cauliflower on the plate, our son ordered the chicken tikka and rice and that's exactly what he got a couple of spoons of curry and a small dome like potion of rice...I booked this last minute for the following week as we were going to Alton Towers as we have the Merlin cards we like to go for a couple of days to make the most of our time up there so decided to try to find accommodation a bit nearer than the premier inn we had stayed in before When we had been shown the room we found out that there was a four poster bed which was just that a bed with the posts no curtains or anything quite pointless even mentioning it was there really then there was a very tired sofa bed which was suppose to be suitable for my son aged 12 and daughter aged 10 ? luckily the lovely lady who cleans the room came to our rescue and got a z bed which she put in while we were out , we used their restaurant the 1st evening but instantly regretted it the meals were not of a good standard I ordered the scampi which was the size and shape of large peas this arrived with cauliflower ? when i said I asked for jacket potato & salad the chap was going to get me a bowl of salad and leave the cauliflower on the plate, our son ordered the chicken tikka and rice and that's exactly what he got a couple of spoons of curry and a small dome like potion of rice when we checked the menu for the naan bread they wanted another £1.75 the £ 30 odd pound bill was a total rip off hence the next 2 nights we ate at the weatherspoons in the next village,Breakfast was also quite strange 1st day we had a table which had been relaid but not cleaned of toast crumbs there was no were to prepare the cereal a side table next to the side board would have been handy instead we had a couple of inches to try and make the cereal up on,the breakfast was a teaspoon of scrambled egg bacon sausage tomatoes mushrooms no choice on the eggs, I don't eat meat but due to the size of the breakfast I choose to share my bacon and sausages with my son and husband & daughter the toast came out on a large plate after the breakfast and no side plates to use when i asked for a side plate we got 1 ? the breakfast room had a couple of nice modern paintings on the walls then bizarrely some random old ones on the same wall ? The rooms were very clean just very in need of updating the electric shower in our room R1 had a mind of its own boiling hot one moment then freezing the next have never had this trouble before with an electric shower very strange and totally unsafe our children had to have a wash due to the burning/freezing this was mentioned in there book from another visitor ? the kettle in...More
