Attraction details
Owner description: Gladstone is the only complete Victorian pottery factory from the days when coal burning ovens made the world's finest bone china. Traditional skills, original workshops, and the cobbled yard and huge bottle ovens transport visitors back in time. Visit the gift shop and tea room and have a go at throwing a pot, making a bone china flower or decorating pottery. Please allow two to three hours for your visit. The shop and cafe, which serves a selction of drinks and light lunches, are open to non-museum visitors.

“back in time”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

it was such an interesting place 2 spend a few hours going back in time, understanding the amount of time that goes into making a plate etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the number of people needed to complete an item, the tools of the trade o the working conditions even though they were on a much smaller category
there were opportunities to try out certain parts of production - like trying to make a vase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my sister in law worked in the potteries before her retirement so we got a little more insight in some of the procedures of production
by the time u found the tea room u really needed to sit down o have a cupper - when parking your car the sign there already tells u 2 allow 2 hr 4 the sightseeing
be fore leaving the premises go o take a look in the gift shop - there r some REALLY GOOD things 2 buy

“The best pottery visit.”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Do not go to Stoke without going to the Gladstone Pottery musem. This is one of the best visits that you can make in England. You will follow through the whole process of making pottery (including hands on), the firing, the decorating (including hands on) and talking to the people who work there. Plenty of loos. Nobody to hurry you round. I learnt a lot from this visit. Must go again. (You will also find a visit to Ironbridge for your complete education).

“What a great day out”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Fabulous place that the whole family enjoyed. Lovely staff all very helpful. Very clean facilities. Simple food in on site cafe but very fresh and friendly staff here too. My Daughter threw a pot and we both painted vases. Really was a most enjoyable day and great value for money.

“Superb museum”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Everything from our arrival at the large car park until we left several hours later was impressive. The museum and its exhibits were really well presented giving a real insight into the industrial history of the area and the production of pottery articles. The exhibition of sanitary wares was superb. The staff were all enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea was delicious and very reasonably priced.
