Owner description: Gladstone is the only complete Victorian pottery factory from the days when coal burning ovens made the world's finest bone china. Traditional skills, original workshops, and the cobbled yard and huge bottle ovens transport visitors back in time. Visit the gift shop and tea room and have a go at throwing a pot, making a bone china flower or decorating pottery. Please allow two to three hours for your visit. The shop and cafe, which serves a selction of drinks and light lunches, are open to non-museum visitors.

We really liked the content of the tour, our tour guide was awesome and each person demonstrating stages of production of pottery were friendly and very knowledgeable.

We arrived with no preconceived ideas of what the museum had to offer. It certainly exceeded our expectations. This museum delivers on many levels. It is informative, educational, visual and offers interactive activities but best of all it takes the visitor back in time using excellent displays which incorporate sound and even smell. Well worth a visit with something for every age group.

This place gives a real insight into how the pottery industry worked not too many years ago. Friendly and helpful staff.

This is the only factory left which is still in its original form. There is no pottery made on a wholesale scale but it does show how people worked in the "olden" days. We followed in the footsteps of the stages of making the pottery from the throwing to the stacking in the bottle ovens through to the painting and glazing. The staff were friendly and the cafe served delicious sandwiches. Make sure you have lots of time to visit as it should not be rushe.
