My mum and I shared a gorgeous big twin room on the lower floor, with big windows overlooking the garden. The bathroom was thoughtfully prepared with all one would need, and even though the shower was a little small it did not pose a problem. The historical house has a lovely warm feel with the decor and presentation tastefully done. The breakfast sun room really is delightful and breakfast itself was perfect. A few squeaky floor boards were heard from the above room early in the night, (gorgeous old home hard to manage this I am sure) but no issues at all as the house was quiet early. The location was good and never a problem for parking our little car.

Dear Donna,
Thank you for your comment. Since we are very sensitive to our guest satisfaction and thrive for excellence, may I ask you what would you suggest we do to improve your overhaul experience from very good to excellent?
I trust you and your mother have had a nice time in Cape Town.
Enjoy the summer in Gauteng!
Best regards / Yves

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment.
Maybe we will get the chance to host you a bit longer during a future visit to your son and hopefully you will get to appreciate a bit more both our beautiful house and our services.
In the meantime, keep well.
Best regards / Yves

Yves and Valerie's lovely Carmichael Guesthouse was recommended to us by three separate friends of ours, and from our first email inquiry to our check-out experience, Valerie and Yves were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They assisted us in planning our seven-day stay in the Cape Town area, in finding other interesting places to stay and visit, in finding a driver/guide (Yusuf is a MUST) and in helping us to acclimate quickly to our new environment.
Their guesthouse is truly a glimpse into another, more gracious time.

The accommodations were lovely and exactly as the website described. Excellent food. Very gracious hosts who were quite knowledgable about the area and available tours; they even made the bookings for us. Rooms were spacious and nicely appointed, very clean. Pretty grounds included areas to sit outside; we enjoyed coffee on the patio. Staff was pleasant. Private bath included a shower with great water pressure. Look forward to returning if we ever get to Cape Town again.

My whole experience at Carmichael was superb. Even if I try and find fault - I simply cannot. From the moment I walked in the door to the time I left, my time at Carmichael was exceptional. Thank you both very much.
One thing that was very nice to have, was decent coffee in the rooms :)

We stayed with Valerie and Yves for 3 nights at the start of our 3 week tour of south africa and did not want to leave. They were fantastic hosts, could not do enough for us and made some really good recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Our girls adored their little dog fripon who seemed to return the sentiment! We were really sorry to move on and would thoroughly recommend the Carmichael guest house. We are already trying to work out how we can arrange our next visit! Thank you for such a lovely time Yves and Valerie. Claire, Craig, Lauren and Eva.

Dear Claire,

Our warmest thanks for this posting such rewarding comments. Needless to say that we would be delighted to have you with us again. Maybe in summer so that Lauren & Eva could make use of our pool. Fripon would delighted and run around like crazy! We would also have many more restaurants to suggest...
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
All the best from all of us.
