We stayed on the 5 day Cape town tour package which was fantastic value for money. All the best parts of Cape Town history and culture jam packed into 5 days. Staff are approachable, very friendly and down to earth. The facilities we're clean and working with hot water (at one point we were in a group of 10, so understandably, the last person in didnt necessarily have a hot shower). Great location from the beach, supermarket/shopping outlets etc. Highly recommend SaltyCrax for those either on a smaller budget or for those who want a down to earth stay just on the outside of the busy city centre.

Room Tip: For those on a budget room will be given the dorm which is good, but for those who require a little more privacy, I recommend enquiring about a private room.

thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful. We enjoyed every single day, mostly because of the lovely people around and staff. They are alway more than happy tpp help you with questions and bookings. As we know them, Julian, Cornelia and Jen, all they care about their work, but they also know how to make everybody comfortable and to start a party. Of all the hostels we have been to, this is the only one where we have had, the option of locking away our things into the dorm, Which made you feel perfectly safe. Salty Crax we can recommend to anyone. If you want to enjoy a cozy night in the TV room or partying in the bar, Saltys is the right place to stay!

Been coming to SA to kite and windsurf for many years and have stayed in various places. Saltycrax is ideally placed with a short stroll to the beach and bars/shops etc. Good atmosphere in the hostel which has a bar in the garden. Range of accommodation from camping/dorms through to quite swanky rooms. Many of the hostels in tableview have a very German bias but salty attracts a range of nationalitys so has a nice balance. you can store kit and there is secure parking if you feel the need.

This backpackers lodge is located in Blouberg, which is a long commute from the Cape Town city centre. It is located in a calm residential area, but is only 200m from the restaurants and cafès on the beachfront. There is also a big shopping mall within 5 mins walk.
We stayed for about a week and did their 5-day flexi tour of the Cape Town area. This tour is truly flexible: we were assigned one of the staff who would take us for activities. For four days, it was only us two and the guide. We could choose what activities to do or not do, and could easily change the itinerary on the fly.

We slept in an en-suite room (double bed and private bathroom). Staying in the dorms would probably make the stay quite different. They also offer double rooms with shared bathrooms. While it is possible to cook for yourself in the kitchen, we chose to order the breakfast every day, and had the brai twice. The brai is a South African BBQ and is delicious. You can order either cold or hot breakfast. Hot breakfast is with eggs and bacon. We mostly opted for the cold breakfast, which is müsli, joghurt, freshly cut fruits, tea, a muffin and toast. The breakfast is very tasty, and is good value for money.

The only drawback was a noisy group of other travellers at the lodge that kept us awake for hours several nights. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

They have cheap wireless internet, paid by the megabyte rather than minutes.
