Robeanne House Bed & Breakfast
Reviewed April 29, 2013

I stayed as part of a large group of 10 for one night. I made the booking for everyone over the phone and was impressed by the efficiency of the booking, despite the complexity.

When we arrived (all at slightly different times), Jeanne dealt with everyone in a very friendly, welcoming manner manner. All rooms were reported to be good and the family rooms are apparently massive. My friends staying the main cottage commented on how homely it was. I stayed in one of the log cabins myself. They are incredibly sweet, surprisingly warm and very well appointed. However, the dawn chorus was a bit much for me!

The breakfast and choices were excellent - eggs impressively consistently good! - and we were served quickly.

Room Tip: The log cabins are really sweet and done to a very high standard.

We were so glad you all enjoyed your stay it was lovely to meet you all .The dawn chorus is at this time of the year noisy and very early . The black birds and thrushes are very busy feeding their babies so its an early start ,I find ear plugs are the best course of action .The swallows arrived last week and they can do a lot of twittering. All the best to you all . Kind regards jeanne

We booked three nights from 13th April. I would recommend this Bed & Breakfast. We had two rooms in the cottage which were spacious, very comfortable and clean with plenty of toiletries, towels, and drinks. Downstairs there was a guest fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable lounge which we found very convenient. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious and Jeanne cooked us a superb meal one evening. The staff were very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. Ignore the tatty buildings as you enter the premises, the accommodation and hospitality is very good.

Room Tip: The cottage-large double bed, settee and coffee table. Large shower with good sized bathroom. Two ro...

We stayed here for 1 night on the 13th April . We had a track day booked in Elvington on the Sunday so this place was in a good location for this as it was only a few mile away. The Robeanne house B&B was lovely we had one of the chalets in the grounds, the chalet was lovely and clean ,warm and cosy, and it had everything you needed for a pleasant stay. Had a great nights sleep then we went to the main house for breakfast which was very nice, an assortment of cereal and fruit, yogurt and fruit juices to start with then a full English breakfast which was very well cooked and lots of it. I would highly recommend this place and would stay here again if in the area. Also the staff were very warm and friendly and were on hand if you needed anything. All in all a great place to stay.

We booked 2 rooms overnight 2/3 March 2012. We arrived and got our keys, my daughters had the upstairs room, we were beneath them. The rooms were lovely and bright with a clean attractive bathrooms, lots of towels and tea/coffee and biscuits. The beds were so comfortable and we all slept well.
Breakfast was even better, help yourself cereals, fruits and yogurts and a cooked breakfast, cooked fresh, nothing reheated. And 'real' tea and excellent coffee. the perfect start to the day!
Thank you.

I had cabin 2 on 18/02/2013. Despite it being freezing outside I was very warm and cosy in this pleasant room/log cabin with en-suite. Big shower, loads of hot water, everything beautifully clean. The room was nicely dressed and decorated. The bed was bliss. In the morning I watched all the garden birds feeding. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and plenty of choice - good strong fresh coffee too, served in a lovely dining room. I recommend Robeanne and the delightful owner. Really great value. 5*.

We booked here because our first and second choices of hotel were not available. What to write? Some of the things which irritated us may delight other people and it feels kind of unkind to pick holes.

On the good side, they were expecting us, our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the wifi worked well. On the less good side, we were really cold when the heating went off and my warm-up shower wasn't very hot. As it was an electric shower this is mystifying so maybe we didn't get the thing to work properly. I would have dearly loved a hot water bottle. Another annoyance was the itsy-bitsy fussy touches around our room, too many cushions, stuffed toys, two pots of dried flowers and one vase of dried flowers and a pile of books. Give me the bare expanse of desk of a chain hotel anytime, the variable heating and the extra bedding hidden in the wardrobe!! The room felt full of the owners' stuff and here was little room to put anything!

We were told breakfast was fixed to an hour which meant quite a disciplined start for a holiday. The conservatory seemed very chilly but then we were seated by the window. Once again we had to move a pile of books from the dining table before we could eat, those books are just everywhere. The breakfast was very good though we were told there were not enough sausages for us both to have them (no problem - didn't want sausage but how hard is it to get this right?).

We would not dream of going there again. Of the four places we stayed at over the festive period, this was the most expensive and the least enjoyable. Our over whelming memory is of being too cold and the faffy decoration everywhere. Someone said in these reviews that it was like a home from home, well, not my home that's for sure!!

I appreciate that other reviewers rave about the place well, tant pis, this is just an honest report but from our view.

Room Tip: The rooms in the court yard gets very cold everytime you go out to the car to unload and it is hard...
