11th-12th Century. Since the Division of County Castell in 1546 the genus Castell-Rüdenhausen has here their seat and residence. Still owned by the princely family, although they hardly stay at the castle. The medieval half-moated Castle was reconstructed several times but still remained its medieval character. The former water Castle is present only enclosed on one side by the Schirrnbach. Numerous shields and inscriptions on the courtyard and the Interior witnesses of the reign of the counts Wolfgang and his son Georg after the Castle Castell became his property. Coat of arms of Castell and Wertheim, stone inscription 1573 with coat of arms of Castell and of Limpurg. Spiral tower with Renaissance Portal. After the wedding of count Casimir with Dutch Countess Mechtild Bentinck in 1905, the old castle was extended and raised with a Western construction (architect Prof. Otto Schulz). Private ownership, only once a year opened during the Castle Festival.
