We spent three nights at Nilaveli Beach Hotel, and we felt looked after from the very first moments! The hotel itself looks good, and carefully designed. The staff is consistently helpful and pleasant, breakfast is plentiful and tasty, and the view is wonderful from the top floor rooms. We had a great time! we will for sure stay here again !

Please: should have complimentry wifi ...

We stayed here for 3 night during our 6 week holidy in Sri Lanka. This hotel is the sister hotel to the Grand in Nuwara Eliya, and we enjoyed the services of Susantha our remarkable fishing guide (based at Grand) whilst here. The hotel is lovely, location fab, and staff are helpful, courteous and friendly. The area is very interesting with trips to Pigeon Island available in the hotels boats. Excellent food and a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

We made a reservation with this place in a rush on our way back from Pasikudah. Since it was a long weekend in mid Feb there was hardly any place for us to get. We got standard double on BnB basis. Rooms were very basic n old. Bathroom also looked ancient but clean. They have huge garden and the beach was nice. But sadly other than boat ride to pigeon island, we didnt see any excitement created by hotel. We booked a boat to go to the island n had a good time. Best thing about the hotel was the food. food was fantastic. Overall I think its overly priced compared to the service/facility and other hotels such as chaaya Blu which had a full board basis room offer almost same price of nilaveli. We just missed it due to last minute arrangements. We may not stay there again not because its so bad but because there are much nicer n affordable options.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience on Trip Adviser.

We regret that the "Standard" category of room offered did not meet up to your expectation. We take your comments about the Room ( Standard) and the bathroom., as they are coming for a period of well over 35 years. We thank you for the positive comments on the cleanliness ,food and the environment that you seem to have enjoyed.

We wish to inform that some of the rooms you have mentioned are currently going thru some minor - up dates without causing much disturbance to the environment we are living in, and work on an additional 24 rooms + two sea-front suits of superior grade will commence soon to give our dear guests a better choice on accommodation. Until such time this is done, our promise to you and all prospective visitors to our lovely hotel is that we will continue to provide you with "CLEANER ENVIRONMENT, QUALITY SLEEP-TIME (with comfortable bedding and cleaner room) AND, QUALITY FOOD with caring service.

Best Wishes.

Beautiful but overpriced hotel, nice swimming pool, nice room with small patio with chairs. Directly located at the (beautiful!) beach. But not a relaxed atmosphere, snobby and unfriendly. Predominantly dressed up Sri Lankans at swimming pool and beach. Dinner was expensive and no value for the money we paid

Thank you very much for your honest review. You have said " Beautiful Hotel on a beautiful beach" but still found it to be not a "relaxed atmosphere". Was it due to the Pool and Beach area were over crowded? While agreeing with you fully, please accept our sincere apologies if this had caused you not to have enjoyed your time out there during your stay wit us. As a precautionary measure we have decided to discourage or limit the patronage of non resident guests to our hotel.

The Hotel being "over priced" and dinner to be "too expensive"....... we will do a further review of our prices.

Best Wishes

This hotel is located about 10 miles north of Trincomalee. Rooms are in 1 and 2 storey units spread around the grounds, with patios/balconies and air conditioning. There are monkeys and squirrels on site so don't leave windows/doors open unattended. Choice of dining in or outside in the evenings. The food is superb and beautifully presented with ready prepared starters and puddings, but main courses cooked to order. This was the best food we came across (along with The Grand at Nuwara Eliya) in our travels around Sri Lanka. The coffee however was not very good so stick to tea. Excellent pool, and direct access to the beach. The Hotel has a boat and trips can be arranged either to Pigeon Island or north along the coast to explore a lagoon, however the boat has to go out through the surf so be prepared to get wet.
