We have just stayed at this hotel in a deluxe sea view room. The room was lovely and airy but what made it amazing was the view from the balcony. Just sitting there and watching the sea through the palm trees was worth all the money. We found the food to be excellent, the staff were extremely friendly and went out of there way to help - always smiling. Especially the manager at the grill! Only slight downside was that food and drink were expensive although the excellent buffet was good value. I cannot wait to visit here again and will always remember the floodlit garden with the flautist at dinner - magical.

We have stayed at the Nilaveli Beach Hotel before, and again this trip was a pleasant experience as before. The biggest plus point of the hotel are its staff, who go out of their way to make you feel at home and welcome, even preparing specific foods when there was someone who couldn't eat what was on the buffet. The food was also good, with a different theme every evening, along side the usual great curries. The only thing they seem to have problems with is their grill, food could be a little less burnt. But that apart great food.

The beaches also remain to be some of the nicest in Sri Lanka.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel is no doubt an old hotel, it survived the Tsunami and was renovated with an effort to keep the old feeling of a traditional Sri Lankan beach resort. It is this charm that has us coming back to Nilaveli, and preferring it to other hotels in the area that we have stayed at. Hence one should not expect a super luxury chain hotel but a very unique, family-oriented comfortable beach resort.

Room Tip: The rooms above the restaurant are those best renovated (bathrooms, etc.) and have plenty of space...

We spent 4 days here in August 2012. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was stunning with private chalets ensuring undisturbed sleep. Great snorkelling at nearby Pigeon Island. Good food and lots of monkeys! Beautiful, clean beach with crystal clear water.

Room Tip: Choose a chalet room rather than part of main hotel

After a 3 hour drive from Habarana, over what seems like the longest roadworks in the world, to Trincomalee we eventually arrived at the Nuvareli Hotel. We waited patiently in Reception sipping an Iced Tea brought by a smiling gentleman while our reservation was checked. The Hotel was booked out so we were told. We finally were brought to our room.
The Hotel's setting is hard to beat. A stroll through the ground brought us past the very impressive pool, past the beachside restaurant to one of the most amazing beaches. The Indian Ocean just kept rolling in during our short stay.
Bit and Pieces:
The Hotel is low rise with some blocks having two stories. Ours was ground floor, all seem to have seating area, balcony style.
Our room was spacious and clean. Minor bother with bugs was quickly sorted out by the friendly staff who always seemed available. Having stayed at several hotels in Sri Lanka over the past few weeks this hotel was only one of two that made up the beds and did a tidy around. They even turned down the beds while we were eating dinner.
Breakfast was buffet style with a chef on hand to make an omelette or similar if desired. The buffet was impressive, fruits and both local and western options available.  But badly let down by sachets of Nescafé and some boiling water as the coffee offering.
We had dinner listening to the Indian Ocean, expecting high prices but were surprised at how reasonable our bill was.
The Staff were, at all times friendly and cheerful, one Staff member buying sunscreen for us in Trincomalee, 14km away while he was on a break.
Overall our stay here at the ocean was a wise idea following long days in a minibuses touring this fabulous country.
But...please get a coffee machine.

Room Tip: All rooms are only a stroll to the beach & pool.

We stayed at Nilaveli Beach Hotel for 9 nights in late July/early August and we had a great stay. The staff is so wonderful, housekeeping (Nalin) who went the extra mile making sure our room was in perfect condition every day, the buffet restaurant's waiters always with a smile on their faces, remembering our extra order of soft boiled eggs, lettuce, tomato and cucumber every morning without us even asking. The pool attendent who glued our daughter's goggles on his on initiative. The list could go on forever!
Both the breakfast buffe and the dinner buffe were of very high standard and we were very impressed with the variaty in the dinner buffe each night. Fresh fish from the barbaque tasted marvellous! Fridays and Saturdays the dinner buffe was set outside in the beautiful garden with lots of lit candles and musicians creating a perfectly relaxed vibe.
The beach next to the hotel is one of the best in the world (we've travelled everywhere so we know) and the swimmingpool is great for kids - our children spent hours there every day.
After seven weeks around Asia this was the perfect place to end our vacation. Thank you so much to all of the staff!

Had a good few days atNilaveli but there's definitely room for improvement. Instant make your own Nescafé at breakfast, I don't think so! That's hostel standards. Buffet feels a little like you're in the 90's. Great lication, beautiful beach, a bit of unwanted attention if you're a roman on your own. Pigeon IslNd and Coral Bay both worth boat trips.
