We had the pleasure of staying in Kentisbury Country House for 2 nights in July and firstly can I say the amazingly warm and heartfelt welcome we received from Melissa was so lovely! She is an absolute delight, and was a joy to meet and talk to. Now, as for the house, yes it IS as gorgeous in real life as it appears on the internet! We stayed in the middle of winter, and it was freezing outside, but the heaters kept us toasty and warm indoors! We actually arrived on my husbands birthday, and Melissa had very kindly made him a yummy chocolate cake, which was so thoughtful of her. The house is spotlessly clean, and the kitchen was a joy to cook in. The location of the property is a few minutes drive from the little town of Sheffield, where they have a decent grocery store that you can buy all of your food for your stay as this is not provided, but the store had everything we needed and I was very happy to cook every night as the kitchen is very well equipped. The views from the property are lovely, so peaceful and relaxing. You can truly take time to just 'be', and forget the stresses of everyday life. This is a gorgeous house to stay in if you are exploring Cradle Mountain, Mole Creek Caves or Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Thank you so much for a lovely stay Melissa, it was great chatting with you and Josh still tells everyone how lovely you were for letting him borrow your bike!!!!

The property is ideally located within 30-40 minutes of Cradle Mountain, Devenport or Burnie. The house is extremely charming, with nice gardens and a beautiful view on the hills around Barrington lake. It is very well equipped and decorated with taste.
The owners, Melissa and Peter are among the most sympathetic people we ever met. They are always trying to make your stay a wonderful memory, giving you numerous tips about the region, proposing fresh fruits and veggies from their garden or eggs from their farm! Talking with them is not only helpful and pleasant but makes the whole stay a more personal one.
You will not regret spending a few nights there, enjoying the beautiful scenery and company, you will probably miss it as soon as you leave ;)
A real gem in a small paradise!
When we first planned this trip to Tasmania and we made inquiries regarding this property the owners were a pleasure to deal with, on arrival took us on a inspection and explained the features of the property. We stayed for six nights and on a couple of occasions had friends stay. It was great to have such a great kitchen witch is well stocked with appliances.
Our hosts supplied raspberries and cherries picked fresh from their garden.
Please note that internet and mobile phone reception is not great but if on holidays why do you need it.

We were so lucky to have found this property through a friend. In fact, our reason for visiting Tasmania was motivated by the opportunity to come and stay here!
We experienced a very high level of service during our stay. We were greeting by the owner, and were shown over the property and introduced to everything. We were never intruded on or interrupted, yet we were able to call on our hosts for assistance or to have a chat.
We particularly liked the dining area with a magnificent long table suitable for a king. We also liked very much sitting in bed and enjoying the view from the upstairs window across the valley to the lake and into the forested hills opposite. We very much enjoyed the gifts of fresh eggs and chocolate, beautiful roses, and the jam was a delight. You can buy some very reasonably priced jars of jam to take home. The jam is well sealed and travels fine in airline luggage. We enjoyed the company of our hosts and they made everything so easy for us, including very good advice about our travels each day.
I would say that the location of the property is ideal amongst the hilly farmland, close to the lake, and nearby to spectacular locations, and popular tourist spots. We enjoyed our drives through the hills each day, and we had the opportunity to visit Cradle Mountain, Marakoopa Cave, Lake Barrington, the Tasmanian Craft Fair at Deloraine, and the Chudleigh honey shop. We loved the views of Mt Roland. We finally completed our holiday with a visit to Launceston which we enjoyed very much.
We found the beds and the bedrooms very comfortable and well heated. We used everything in the kitchen which was equipped with everything that we could possibly want such as oven, stove, kettle, microwave, even a steamer. The showers and bath were very good, with excellent hot water. We appreciated the washing machine, and enjoyed the towels which are kindly supplied for guests. Soap and shampoo are also provided. On your way in be sure to pick up some supplies in Sheffield to make your own breakfast as this is not included. We stopped at the Deloraine Deli for some supplies and at the Sheffield shops.
We liked very much meeting our hosts and enjoying their company, and found the property really so comfortable that we didn't want to leave. We were sorry to go, and hope to think that we can return for another visit one day!

This house, one of five we stayed at, was exceptional. From the warm friendly welcome to the delightful setting with comfortable beds, thick fluffy towels, a well equipped kitchen with spotless appliances, this place was perfect. An octagonal pavilion to sit in to looking out over gardens and orchard with green fields in the background was made even more picturesque by the very friendly dog and the beautiful silky hens that wandered around just asking to be painted.
Melissa was the perfect host sharing her local knowledge and even bringing us fresh eggs to make a delicious breakfast .Next time a much longer stay will be planned!

The directions we were given to find this property were absolutely spot on, so that was just the first point of what became a really very enjoyable and relaxing weekend. Set in the heart of some very pretty farming land, and overlooking a local state forest, this property is really high class. The beautiful gardens surrounding the house were really pretty and welcoming, enticing us into the actual property itself, which is amazing. The kitchen is very well equipped, but to add to our delight we found a scrumptious cake awaiting our arrival, complete with berry coulis and cream!!! There are several living areas in the house, including a really snug lounge room, and the wonderful summerhouse, which was a great place to sit and read the paper. Not to be overlooked is the balcony out the back, which was a great place to rest and gaze out at the view over a glass of wine at the end of each day.
The property is not readily accessible by public transport, so you would need a car. It is, however, within easy driving distance of a number of great attractions, including Ashgrove Cheese factory, the Christmas Hills Raspberry farm and the chocolate factory, as well as some sensational natural attractions, like the Cradle Mountain National Park and the Marakoopa caves. It is also easy driving distance to the north coast, and places such as Ulverstone, Burnie and Penguin, which are all great places to explore. It is very close to the town of Sheffield, with all of its wall murals, and also Deloraine, which is not only famous for its topiary, but also for the Tasmanian Craft Festival which is held there every year, and which we were lucky to catch.
Overall, this was an absolutely relaxing and enjoyable stay. We were able to cook our own meals, enjoy some of the local wines (there is a winery just down the lane from the house) and sleep in truly comfortable beds. What more could one want??
I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a tranquil setting and a place to get away from the stresses and pace of life. Melissa and Peter are sensational to deal with, and tended to our every need. I hope you enjoy staying there every bit as much as my husband and I did.
