Owner description: Obsidian wines are the true embodiment of their place of origin. Every exquisite glass of Obsidian speaks of this unique terroir, encapsulating not only the character of the weathered soils at Onetangi, home to Obsidian's vineyard on Waiheke Island, but the coastal beauty of the surrounding environment.Tucked away in an amphitheatre setting amongst the vines, Obsidian offers wine tastings in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our knowledgeable cellar door staff will take you through a range of Obsidian Reserve & Non-Reserve wines. All are available to purchase in the shop. Winter Opening Hours: 11:00am - 4:00pm Friday through Sunday.

The staff at Obsidian Vineyard are extremely helpful and know their stuff! The Weeping Sands Rose is exceptional. Worth a trip for wine tasting here!

“Rose is an Island Gem”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

Obsidian Winery is a must when on Waiheke. The wines are New World and with age will drink exceptionally well. Right now they are drinking very well. Rose in the Cellar door was very informative about the Obsidian journey and our time with her flew - we were there for an hour and a half! Be prepared for a $10 tasting fee of Obsidian Wines. Living in Hawkes Bay, we are spoilt with free tastings.

Obsidian and Weeping Sands are beautiful wines. The tasting is done in a nice surrounding and they also offer platters.
