This trip was a late booking for a short half term escape. The need was for peace & quiet after a busy work period, a haven for getting A level coursework started with attractions available for the younger child. This ticked all boxes. The hosts Karen & Karl took delight in ensuring all was running smoothly - 6 eggs, loaf, milk and homebaked cake waiting on arrivsl. Barns are modern converted striking a b as lance between beams and clean comfort. Reliable WiFi was important, but decent TV and DVDs & books on the shelf were a bonus. The location is quiet & convenient but not awe-inspiring. However, the comfort & welcome makes up for that. Also there is an excellent hotel restaurant next door, pub within site, fish & chips, good local butcher & takeaways all within walking distant. This is a tremendous base for exploring the island by day and cosy enough for pleasant nights by the wood burner.
Our second visit to Oak Barn, large secure garden for dogs with varied walks available without using the car.
This barn is just one of several that Karl & Karen have lovingly developed on their farm and which offers comfort in a charming yet peaceful location just four minutes from the ferry port. Many of the original character features remain on show although it is a modern and warm practical base for all travelers to the Isle of Wight. There are two bedrooms, the master has an en-suite and both are very comfortable.
The living area is very well equipped with everything immediately available that you could possibly need. The extra touches that just make it special are immediately evident including the fresh farm laid eggs, wine and always a homemade cake.
There is free wi-fi access provided, the central heating is very effective and the log burner lit for 45 minutes will keep the whole place super toasty all evening.
This place and the barns alongside are all hidden gems with comfortable furnishings in a superb location. There is a chip shop, Chinese and Indian take away all within a short walking distance and a convenience store in case you run out of milk or bread. Tesco will deliver happily and for visiting or exploring the Island this is a perfect base.
I cannot recommend this place any higher so go visit, I guarantee you will just love it. Looking forward to our third visit soon.

Oak Barn has been converted very tastefully. The owners Karen and Karl go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, nothing is too much trouble from start to finish, you're doing something right so never change. The accommodation is so modern, clean and comfortable. The milk, wine, homemade cake and fresh new laid eggs laid by the resident chicken, is such a lovely thought. Hubby and I loved it so much, while there we booked online (free wifi) for Christmas. Oak Barn is the best holiday letting we have stayed in. The back garden was a delight for our Yorkie to run around in, and extremely dog proof. Only a very short walk to shops, take a-ways, a carvery pub and bus stops to Ryde and Newport. What more would you want.
