“A very quiet place on walking distance from Melrose”
Reviewed January 17, 2017 for a stay in May 2016

The house is very cosy, comes fully equipped and has a lot of parking space. The neighbours were friendly, but a wee bit noisy every now and then. The kitchen was comfortable as was the living room. It is a compact house, but perfect for a few days in exploring Melrose & area. The nearby restaurant "Hoebridge Inn" comes highly recommended!

“Comfortable, homey, convenient, parking, and more”

A wonderful cottage with a great, roomy kitchen, with newer appliances and all necessary pots, pans, and dishes. Living room has comfortable seating and a gas fire. The bedrooms are comfortable and have lots of closet space. Very nicely decorated and furnished, lots of books, cds, etc. The back garden has a nice table and chairs. Very quiet. Very clean. The cottage has two private parking stalls out front. It is right on the B3630 between Galashiels and the A68. A 15 minute walk across the chain bridge to Melrose. A 10 minute drive to Abbotsford and Scott's View, 5 minutes to Leaderfoot Viaduct.

“Lovely, well equipped cottage in a great location”
Reviewed April 13, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This cottage is very homely and has everything you need for a perfect family holiday. There are several really useful walk books and lots of information on the local area. The location is perfect and we were able to walk into Melrose, particularly useful as we went to the famous Sevens tournament on your last day.
Would wholeheartedly recommend it.

“A comfortable, well maintained cottage in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed June 12, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

What a lovely cottage - well maintained and supplied. Have greatly enjoyed my week here and feel sure I will return. There are lots of walks direct from the cottage - into Melrose, along the Tweed and up onto the Southern Upland Way. Particularly enjoyed visiting Kelso and Dryburgh Abbey (though Melrose remains my favourite). There is also plenty wildlife around. Saw a fox strolling along the road above the village and added Goosander and Oystercatcher to my birdlist.

p.s. Many thanks for the goodies.

“Wonderful retreat”
Reviewed May 17, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I had stayed before for weekends but this year I stayed for a month and September Cottage was a welcoming and peaceful retreat. The range of activities and places to visit is excellent and Melrose offers everything you need with its range of independent shops.
For me the perfect day is a lazy start, a walk to Melrose for shopping and coffee and then a walk along the river ending with some time in one of the many book shops in the area.
So, in summary, the cottage is well located, luxurious with a well equipped kitchen, great book collection with lots of information on the local area and a lovely courtyard garden.
I will definitely be back.

“Delightful cottage”
Reviewed January 1, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The cottage was just as pictured. Well located for touring around the boarders. Quiet location. Easy to find, not far from A68 road. Very well equipped kitchen and seasonal touches like a Xmas tree and cloth on the dining table.
Melrose was just across the river from Gattonside. There is a short walk to the town but not explained in the cottage information, which would have been helpful. We found out from someone in Melrose how to get to Gattonside without driving around a longer distance. It's a lovely walk. Also no information on local places to eat, though there is a pub but not opening until 2015. We did see a Bistro on the main road of Gattonside, which we tried and was very good.
There were a few maintenance problems in the cottage, which were dealt with immediately. These could have been avoided if the previous tenants had reported the problems and not just left us to discover them!
Overall a very pleasant stay and lovely cottage.
