“A comfortable, well maintained cottage in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed June 12, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

What a lovely cottage - well maintained and supplied. Have greatly enjoyed my week here and feel sure I will return. There are lots of walks direct from the cottage - into Melrose, along the Tweed and up onto the Southern Upland Way. Particularly enjoyed visiting Kelso and Dryburgh Abbey (though Melrose remains my favourite). There is also plenty wildlife around. Saw a fox strolling along the road above the village and added Goosander and Oystercatcher to my birdlist.

p.s. Many thanks for the goodies.

“Wonderful retreat”
Reviewed May 17, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I had stayed before for weekends but this year I stayed for a month and September Cottage was a welcoming and peaceful retreat. The range of activities and places to visit is excellent and Melrose offers everything you need with its range of independent shops.
For me the perfect day is a lazy start, a walk to Melrose for shopping and coffee and then a walk along the river ending with some time in one of the many book shops in the area.
So, in summary, the cottage is well located, luxurious with a well equipped kitchen, great book collection with lots of information on the local area and a lovely courtyard garden.
I will definitely be back.

“Delightful cottage”

The cottage was just as pictured. Well located for touring around the boarders. Quiet location. Easy to find, not far from A68 road. Very well equipped kitchen and seasonal touches like a Xmas tree and cloth on the dining table.
Melrose was just across the river from Gattonside. There is a short walk to the town but not explained in the cottage information, which would have been helpful. We found out from someone in Melrose how to get to Gattonside without driving around a longer distance. It's a lovely walk. Also no information on local places to eat, though there is a pub but not opening until 2015. We did see a Bistro on the main road of Gattonside, which we tried and was very good.
There were a few maintenance problems in the cottage, which were dealt with immediately. These could have been avoided if the previous tenants had reported the problems and not just left us to discover them!
Overall a very pleasant stay and lovely cottage.

“"Perfect location...Lovely property"”

We didn't know what to expect when we booked September Cottage, but we weren't disappointed! The cottage is in a fantastic spot, very well located. You can visit pretty border towns like Melrose, get stunning views of the border valleys from the mountains, or simply walking using the local footpaths along the river.
On the other hand, you can enjoy the big cities like Edinburgh, where we spent two days having a look to the activities of the theatre festival.

The cottage is beautifully decorated, very warm and provides every thing you need. The place is immaculate and bedding clean and crisp.

Mis Young has been very nice, she made us feel very welcome and gave us every information we needed. Thank you very much Sthefanie.

We wouldn't have wished for a more perfect place to spend a week in and hope to come back again. I strongly recommend it!

“Comfortable and friendly”
Reviewed August 21, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Lovely cottage location central for visiting local attractions Edinburgh 45 minutes drive from cottage or simply walking fishing or golfing. Ms Young maintains the cottage to a very high standard and makes her guests feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting the peace and quiet of the borders perfect for exploring the beautiful border towns and countryside. Look forward to returning to this beautiful cottage.
