“Best B & B we have every stayed in!”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Just returned home after our second stay at The Grange. We arrived after a 7 hour trip in pouring rain from Devon and were greeted warmly by Tim who immediately went to find his wife Kathy. After being shown to our room Kathy then made us a pot of tea which was served, along with scones, jam and cream(!), in the guests' lounge in front of a roaring fire. We had the same bedroom as we had last time - the Blue bedroom - which was spacious with plenty of storage. The bathroom was very roomy - with an old fireplace, a lovely cast iron bath, a corner shower, basin and loo plus everything you would need for your stay - from the usual towels to facecloths, soap, shower gels, etc. The tea tray was not your usual tea tray either as it had an good choice of drinks available plus biscuits (in other establishments we have stayed at we generally find a couple of coffee sachets, two tea bags and a couple of milks if we are lucky)!! We also had use of a fridge out on the landing. The breakfasts were to die for - cereals, grapefruit, muesli, porridge, fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries whilst we were there) followed by a choice of cooked foods. My husband and I chose to have the full English breakfast each morning which was delicious! The fire was lit in the dining room and on the table were newspapers which we could browse through whilst waiting for our cooked breakfast! It is these little details which made all the difference to our stay. We took our dog, Ben, with us and he too was made very welcome. Grange Farm is situated in a peaceful location - it is surrounded by fields and as you make your way up the driveway there are large ponds either side on which you will find ducks swimming! There is also a farm shop and butchers on site. Woolpit is a pretty village, handy for visiting Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area. So all in all a great place to stay - you will not be disappointed!

Kathy, the proprietor, made the extra effort to meet us upon arrival (she was serving tea to the cricket team at the time!) with a cup of tea and a warm welcome. Our rooms, we had two of them, were very comfortable and little details from soaps to coffees to blow dryers to guide books were well taken care of. The double bedroom had an en suite, the other (two singles) had its own private bath but down the hall, both rooms being very spacious with tables, tv, radio, wardrobe, dresser, couch, plenty of lighting and bathrobes. The single beds were not as comfortable as they could have been but the bedding was high quality and the daily cleaning was very well done. Breakfast was exceptional and plentiful. There were farm animals on the premises and a farm shop. I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast and hope to return one day.

I cannot recommenced this place enough , I had the fortune to stay here for a fairly long time due to work in woolpit .
Kathy is a great host and made me feel welcome from the get go.
I stayed in the spacious room at the back overlooking the fields and could not want for more. There was far more storage than I could use, one of the most comfortable beds I have been in for a while and a bathroom with separate shower / standing bath overlooking the country side . Breakfast was always great with fresh coffee, flowers and produce from the farm shop. If you are in the area stay here

My mother told me that the Bothy meant the outside toilet but nothing could be further from the accommodation that the Bothy offers. I was stuck - I had sold my house and not yet bought another - Kathy could not have been more helpful! I arrived with two dogs (a relaxation of her normal rules!) and settled in for what turned out to be a very comfortable two weeks in early January 2013. I'm sure most people remember it for the bad weather - I do too - but I also remember it for cosy nights in and brisk early morning walks.

The Bothy has a single room upstairs with a double bed and ensuite shower, loo etc. Don't think that the facilities will be on the small and 'cosy' side - they are very comfortable and well appointed. Downstairs there is a good sized kitchen and good-sized separate sitting room space.

Everyone and everything (dogs, cats, chicken and ducks) were very welcoming and I could not have wished for a nicer temporary home. As somewhere to stay - either for a night or longer - it is a charming self-catering one bedroomed cottage - highly recommended.

Room Tip: I stayed in The Bothy - the self-catering cottage - but met others who stayed in the B & B and e...

Conveniently close to A14 trunk route, yet not so close that traffic noise was noticeable. On arrival (our first) the view of the farm as we turned onto the drive, house to the left, pond (one of three) to the right, was that of gorgeousness itself. Kathy welcomed us, made us a welcome cup of tea and showed us to our room. The house is characterful to say the least! Sitting, looking at the garden was so relaxing. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was superb, fantastic eggs! This morning at the end of our three night stay we were saddened to leave Grange Farm.

It was so good to be back at Grange Farm for another lovely stay, in another of Kathy's beautiful rooms. The welcome is always warm, the breakfast delicious, and the farm is so beautiful, with high quality accommodation in a delightful setting. Looking forward to the next visit already! Thank you once again Kathy for a restful, home from home stay.

Lovely warm welcome at this quiet, comfortable, characterful farmhouse B&B. Kathy Parker was so friendly, and the location is delightful. A real home from home, with delicious breakfasts. Good local pubs nearby for evening meals, and easy access from the A14. I definitely recommend a stay here.
