Just returned home after our second stay at The Grange. We arrived after a 7 hour trip in pouring rain from Devon and were greeted warmly by Tim who immediately went to find his wife Kathy. After being shown to our room Kathy then made us a pot of tea which was served, along with scones, jam and cream(!), in the guests' lounge in front of a roaring fire. We had the same bedroom as we had last time - the Blue bedroom - which was spacious with plenty of storage. The bathroom was very roomy - with an old fireplace, a lovely cast iron bath, a corner shower, basin and loo plus everything you would need for your stay - from the usual towels to facecloths, soap, shower gels, etc. The tea tray was not your usual tea tray either as it had an good choice of drinks available plus biscuits (in other establishments we have stayed at we generally find a couple of coffee sachets, two tea bags and a couple of milks if we are lucky)!! We also had use of a fridge out on the landing. The breakfasts were to die for - cereals, grapefruit, muesli, porridge, fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries whilst we were there) followed by a choice of cooked foods. My husband and I chose to have the full English breakfast each morning which was delicious! The fire was lit in the dining room and on the table were newspapers which we could browse through whilst waiting for our cooked breakfast! It is these little details which made all the difference to our stay. We took our dog, Ben, with us and he too was made very welcome. Grange Farm is situated in a peaceful location - it is surrounded by fields and as you make your way up the driveway there are large ponds either side on which you will find ducks swimming! There is also a farm shop and butchers on site. Woolpit is a pretty village, handy for visiting Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area. So all in all a great place to stay - you will not be disappointed!
