“Interesting food and a real change from standard 'gastropub' eating”

Interesting menu which apparently changes weekly. Attentive and fun service with amusing 'banter', and good wine. Entertaining and enjoyable - will be back.

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to us and relieved that you saw us as a pub and not a gastro pub, we care passionately about our food and drinks but we like to keep our service informal.

So pleased that you enjoyed it and hope we will have an opportunity to welcome you back very soon.

Kindest regards,

Chris

“Second time - not disappointed”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

We were staying in the area again for our anniversary so decided to return to the Moody Cow.
Good service, lovely food. The duck with rhubarb was delicious!
It's not the cheapest place in the area, but is well worth it if you're celebrating.
Highly recommended.

“Fantastic food and atmosphere”
Reviewed June 1, 2014 via mobile

This is a great pub and restaurant. The host is very convivial and attentive without being OTT. A very good menu and wine list. The food we ordered arrived promptly with a reasonable pause between courses. Starters of Brie crumbed with Hazlenut, Chicken Goujons with the most sublime Pesto Mayonnaise and Duck Spring Rolls. Mains of Fillet Steak, Ribs and Proper Fish and Chips all served with hand cut chips and good salad. Recommended.

“Superb!”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

What a fantastic place, superb food, great wines and wonderful customer service. We had a lovely evening in a beautiful pub, great value for money with quality food at a fair price with generous portion sizes.. I had the slow roast pork which was yummy and I was unable to finish it !The staff were excellent and I had one of the best responses ever when I asked if there was a specials board, "no" was the reply "because we think our food is special enough", she was absolutely right and we will return to enjoy more of that delicious and special food!

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed our home made food, wines and service.

We often get asked if we have a specials board, but it is quite unnecessary at the Moody Cow because the menu changes every day, anyway, I hate it when I am sent to investigate the specials board, I can only remember one or two things and feel quite awkward making other guests sitting nearby feel uncomfortable as I gaze over their heads!

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kindest regards,

Chris

“Really Great Pub Serving Outstanding Food”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

This is a pub you must go and visit if in the area. The character of the building is complemented by the modern interior. The service was great and the food (we went for Sunday lunch) was fantastic. Highly recommended.
