“Excellent food, convivial hosts, warm and cosy atmostphere”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

Although we're local,we hadn't visited the Moody Cow since the new owners (Chris and Dawn) took over two and a half years ago. So to 'celebrate' a change of role, my parents and I decided to treat ourselves to a mid week meal out. After hearing good reports about the food here on the grapevine, we thought we'd give it a go. We were not disappointed. From first arriving on a cold and drizzly night to a lovely cosy pub, and snuggling up on the sofas in front of the wood burning stove, to the final mouthful of pudding - everything was fab! We shared a delicious and clever scallop starter, then had great seasonal main courses of venison, duck and sea bass, then finished everything off with a shared cheese board and a scrumptious pudding. Chris and Dawn are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble, and they're always checking that their guests are okay. I loved it so much here I'm going back for lunch on Tuesday! Only gripe is I wished we'd discovered how good the Moody Cow is sooner! Keep up the good work, it's great to have a place of this quality 5 minutes from Ross.

“Great food and hospitality, dog friendly too”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

We booked last minute for five and a small dog.

Service was excellent, food was superb and large portions, great veggie options and treats for the dog.

We sat at the higher tables and our dog sat perfectly happy beneath, this was a good place to be sat.

We felt like we were valued customers and I would highly recommend you visit.

The do not accept AMEX, but then that's not the end of the world.

“Fantastic Sunday Lunch and great hospitality”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

This restaurant in a cosy village pub setting is a great find. At short notice, after finding this place on the internet and being assured of its reputation by fellow reviewers on trip advisor, they found room for 8 of us at the end of a busy Sunday lunch sitting and we enjoyed the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. My daughter is usually a fussy meat eater but loved the belly pork and the crunchy crackling. It was a superb meal and worth the two and a half hours we travelled to take out relatives from Hereford - and a new discovery for them which they will no doubt return to again. By the way, if you forget your reading glasses, they even have some on hand to lend you!!

“Excellent”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

We had been here once before and it was excellent so decided to come again and we were not disappointed. The menu choice was good, we both ordered Brie to start, I had venison medallions as a main and they were fantastic and my partner had filet steak which was cooked perfect, we were both so full but the desserts looked so good we didn't want to miss so I had creme brûlée and my partner had a sundae. Overall everything was fantastic, they forgot my potatoes for my main but as soon as we pointed it out they sorted it and were very apologetic! We would definitely come here again and recommend to our friends!!
