The menu reads very well. Unfortunately the quality of the cooking is very poor and if you order anything fried, please beware as the oil is reused is not fresh, which affects the taste of the food. Breakfast is also very poor and not a great choice at all.

the staff were totally amateur, the food was awful - even the so called chef came out and told us not to have the chicken as it was off. shall never go again

We visited on a Tuesday evening and unfortunately this meant that a lot of menu options weren't available.
However, the choices we selected were extremely good. It was helpful to have a "set menu" price for 1,2 or 3 courses.
The chef and owner (?) Alan was friendly and chatty, and happy to tweak our dishes to make them just right.
I'd like to revisit this restaurant when there are a few more diners as it was very quiet. Good for service, but not so good for atmosphere.

A real English country pub, the friendly atmosphere in here is a delight. Proper pub food, a great specials board and frequent entertainment and events this really is a wonderful pub. It is worth noting that the owner's dog is wandering around freely throughout the pub and restaurant area, and although it doesn't cause a fuss we personally found it a little annoying while we were trying to eat our food to have a dog walking around us. This unfortunately let the pub down a little for us. The pub garden is a nice touch in the summer, and the lady behind the bar is chatty and friendly.

The food is very good value, all freshly cooked and well presented. They have a child friendly beer garden.
