Booked in to go to a wedding but never made it! Met by Alun and shown to a fantastic room with everything you could need. Alun and Lisa introduced us to some local ciders and that was the start of a great stay! After sampling several local tipples we decided to stay put and sample the local cuisine and how fabulous that was! Alun is passionate about everything and the food was to die for, highly recommended! The drinking continued in the bar where the locals couldnt have been more friendly. All in all we loved this place and are looking to buy a house close by! See you again very soon guys!

A fantastic hotel situated in a beautiful location.
We arrived to a very warm welcome of Alun and Lisa (owners). We were going to a friends wedding and Alun kindly asked if we would like him to book us a taxi. As I'd left it till the last minute , we couldn't get one, Alun then offered to take us and pick us up! Wot service !!
Our room was clean and spacious with a tv , tea making facilities, double shower and a 4 poster bed.
The staff were very polite, the food fantastic.
It was a pleasure to stay here and I will definitely return.
Great location, great hosts, great food . Would highly recomend.

Upon walking in we were told we were not booked in for that evening.. no rooms were allocated, and yet our evening dinner booking was valid ? .... they found us rooms without a problem. We had to ask for the room to be cleaned as it was dirty and rennovation work was ongoing (we were warned about the work).

The towel rail in the other room fell off as soon as it was used.

Dinner was served but no cutlery.. I went to ask but was told "let me just serve this couple at the bar" which is an appauling answer when food is waiting.. as a result it was beginning to cool.

The owner was a nice pleasant chap but to be honest was doing work himself and smelt like it so I didnt appreciate him constantly hanging around our table chatting. Superb host mind but just needed to change and shower really.

Breakfast was nice but again we were sat with breakfast served but no cups/glasses or anything like that which is not what I expect when paying.

We had an evening meal here after checking out the place at lunch-time after a visit to the nearby Goodrich Castle. Liked the look of the menu and won over the the friendly and enthusiastic staff. Always a bit of a gamble to go somewhere new but this place is a real gem. We were greeted (by name) at the cosy, inviting bar where we sat and had a drink before being led through to the dining area for the meal. The food was delicious and the dining room was very pleasant with music (not intrusive) and plenty of candlelight. I had 'Hereford Fillet Beef with Wild Mushrooms' - highly recommended!!
If you're in the area, try the Hostelrie - you won't regret it.......
