“Hunter valleys best kept secret”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

These character filled cottages located on the cedar creek vineyard are the hunters best kept secret. Quaint and romantic there is something for everyone from the spa bath to bush walking tracks! We very much enjoyed an evening of wondering around the property, particularly through the vineyard itself - the breakfast basket was overly generous. All in all a wonderful stay in the real hunter! Beats a hotel room any day!!

My husband and I spent two nights here at the start of our honeymoon. The cottages are well maintained and clean. The kitchen has all the essentials which you need and a couple of added touches which was nice (tomato sauce, cooking oil, salad dressing)
The breakfast basket was great, enough for the two mornings we were there.
We packed dinner and ate a bbq on our first night, we were happy we were prepared because when we arrived we didn't want to drive again to go out for dinner.
The wine in the mini bar was great, full size bottles (you can purchase wine to restock at the cellar door for 20% off).
The bathroom on the Howells cottage had a spa bath, the only thing it was missing were face cloths.
There was very little phone reception with Telstra, none with Virgin. Great for us because we didn't want to talk to anyone anyway. It is a bit of a drive to the heart of the Hunter Valley but if you organise a tour they will pick up from the Stonehurst cellar door.
Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Arrived at check in time to find that when we had booked it through wot if that our room had being double booked somehow. Staff were very apologetic and offered us another cottage for this mistake and also a complementary bottle of wine. The cottage we stayed in was quite old but we loved that aspect, it was located on beautiful acreage and each morning we were given fresh fire wood for the fire ( really needed this in the early morning and night as it was absolutely freezing ) and also a basket with our breakfast which was well and truly generous! Heads up if you're staying in the area we went to a Chinese and Indian restaurant in Cessnock and we were really disappointed in the food which was quite pricy the food was a huge let down and next time we would recommend travelling the 20 minutes to hunter valley to eat its worth the drive! Overall a fantastic place we really enjoyed ourselves.

My boyfriend and I very much enjoyed the peace and quiet in our cottage overlooking the vineyards. There was ample space in the Gardeners Cottage, plenty of food in the breakfast hamper and lovely port to sip on! The bed was very comfortable and the whole place was spotless when we arrived. Thank you for having us, we look forward to coming again!

Fantastic christmas present. Wine ,cheese and port on the verhanda ,just magic. Fantastic hosts, immaculate cottage nothing too much trouble. Isolated enough for that get away from everything feeling but close enough to cessnock. Breakfast hamper a really nice touch, perfect to set your self up for a day on wine tasting, Stonehurst wine by the way very yummy. Would definatley come back.

We stayed for a weekend in the Timbercutters cottage, absolutely loved it, was so nice to get away for the weekend and couldnt have found a better place! The breakfast hamper was lovely and the cottage so cute! Hosts were extremely helpful when we asked for things to do also. We will be going back in Winter though so we can enjoy the log fires, definitely reccommend staying here, you will love it!! :)

Room Tip: Timbercutters is the best, furthest away so you have total peace, quiet and privacy!

We stayed here as a Christmas present and it was an absolute delight. The cabin was very comfortable with everything you could want for a quiet getaway. After an evening watching the sunset drinking wine with local cheese, we awoke to a full breakfast left at the front door. Would recommend it to anyway and we'll definitely be back again.
