We stayed for just 2 nights in Goldsmith cottage (recommend Goldsmiths as it is the last one so no one drives past your cottage). The welcome was wonderful, the breakfast hamper was plentiful and fresh. It was quiet, romantic, the log fire was gorgeous and the 2 dogs on site were really friendly and adorable! We enjoyed the wine from the cellar door, and we would definitely stay here again. The only down side is it quite far from the Polkolbin region, and takes a while to get anywhere as it is rather secluded, which was sorta nice (until I realised I forgot shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste at 10pm at night!)

Room Tip: Goldsmith's cottage was perfect for 2, was the furthest away so no one drives past your cottage.

We loved every moment of our 3 night break at Cedar Creek Cottages. Our charming little cottage had so much character, enhanced by the heart-warming log fire and full free carafe of Stonehurst Organic Port. The view of the vines, mountains and kangaroos from our verandah was wonderfully calming, making us breathe in the fresh country air and soak up the sound of tranquility. Phillipa and Darryl were lovely in making sure we had everything we wanted and the morning visits by their two dogs made us feel part of their farm! Their Stonehurst organic wines are simply exquisite and it was refreshing to be out of the main Hunter Valley region, but still within easy reach. We highly recommend it for a romantic break. Perfect to take time out to soak up each other's company and disconnect from our busy lives for a bit. We will be back. In the meantime, we are enjoying their wines at home and reminiscing about our special retreat!

The wine has certainly improved. I use to dislike their range but recently tried it again and it was lovely.

I have stayed at Cedar Creek Cottages several times because I think it has a certain old world charm that is missing from many HV accommodation options.

If you want luxury then this is NOT the place for you. On my most recent visit the cabin was initially blowing a cold breeze through it, because as another reviewer states the windows and doors are not always fitted correctly.

However, it was no drama at all. I simply cranked up the overhead heating, the log fire, the electric blankets and the radiators, and then rolled up a towel and used an old iron kettle to secure it along the front door. Hey presto the draught was quickly fixed and the cottage heated up nicely. If you are happy to be proactive when little things go wrong; then you will like this place.

Also hard to get romantic on the uncomfortable sofas. Leather couch may look nice but really not comfortable for long term sitting. The room spas are nice as long as you are not 6 feet tall!

The accommodation price includes a breakfast basket. I agree that the basket could be better, as unripe tomatoes from the store and run of the mill Coles bacon in a packet, just does not cut it when you have access to so much fresh local unprocessed foods in the Hunter. I wish they would utilise foods from the region a bit more. However, it tastes nice and does the job if you are unfussy about attention to detail and the finer things. Otherwise the perfect breakfast to ward off potential hangovers from wine tasting!

The accommodation price also includes port, chocolate and a free bottle of wine, plus a 12 month discount on their wine range.

Honestly, overall it is really good value compared to many overpriced HV places and I really recommend it.

Note: I normally avoid the F3 and driving via horrible Cessnock. I take the back route along the Peats Ridge Road, as it is much more attractive.

We stayed in the Timbercutter's Cottage for 2 nights, and definitely regret not staying an extra day just to soak up the atmosphere at the Cottages. It was fantastic! So comfortable, everything we needed - spa bath, breakfast hamper, fresh orange juice, free bottle of port, fireplace, and a beautiful veranda with a gorgeous view of the vineyard. The nearest cabin was far enough away it was silent the whole time we were there. Very peaceful and relaxing, and only a 20 minute drive to the main wineries. We are planning our next stay in these cabins already.

I planned a trip to Cedar Creek Cottages as a surprise birthday present for my partner. We stayed in Timbercutters Cottage and couldn't be happier. It was lovely and peaceful and the cabin was very cosy with the open fire. The verandah was the perfect place to have a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the vineyard. We stayed for two nights, but could have stayed longer. Highly recommend the cottages for a quiet weekend away.

We stayed in Howells Cottage at Stonehurst Cedar Creek for our one year wedding anniversary and it was very romantic!! So quite and private, beautiful views over the valleys. Lovely walks around the property and lots of wildlife. Cozy nights in in front of the open fire eating local produce & stonehurst house wine in the spa was so delicious and relaxing!!

Accommodation was very clean and fresh. Breakfast basket was lovely with fresh bread, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, milk, coffee, juice everything!! Also port and chocolates for after dinner!

The cellar door is lovely a beautiful old sandstone building with excellent wines all organic, our fav is the muscat!!

We had such a great time and will be back really soon!

My Husband and I stayed in Goldsmith's Cottage for 1 night to get away from it all and have a little 'us' time. It was beautiful from the moment we arrived. When we opened the door to our cottage you immediately feel at home. Its soo cozy. We immediately lit the fire and poured ourselves a port or 2 (one of the nicest ports we have had) and wound down.

The only problem we encountered was due to staying on a Sunday night, none of the local Wollombi food venues were open for dinner. We took a short drive to Cessnock and visited the sSs Steakhouse (great food and friendly staff).

Other than that small problem, our stay was fantastic. We only wish we could have stayed for longer than 1 night, but we would definately go back again =)
