After driving up the PCH from Santa Barbara, we stopped here for lunch and I am so glad that we did.
The view is breathtaking!
We had to wait around 40 minutes for a table so we bought a bottle of great Sauvignon Blanc and relaxed whilst admiring the view and surroundings.
We had the pulled pork sandwich which I would recommend to anyone stopping here as it was simply delicious. The staff (Steve) were friendly and fun too.
Definitely worth a stop if visiting this region.

We got there and it was foggy. But we waited for a table and as we ate the fog went away. The view was good, but the food was wonderful! Everything was fresh and the restaurant has been owned by the same family. This is a must stop as you are driving highway 1.

We've been here before and knew what to expect but I haven't written about it. Anyone who hasn't stopped here is missing a vital site integral to this beautiful region. If you don't like Bohemian this place isn't for you. If you're indifferent or unfamiliar with that philosophy/movement, you'll still thoroughly enjoy walking the grounds and viewing some of the creative use of steel, timber and natural building materials that hold this place together and decorate it's grounds. Food has always been excellent for us. With the right weather, this is Pacific Coast viewing at its best!

After a loooooong drive up highway 1 en route to Frisco we fell for the charm of Nepenthe's setting which is pretty spectacular. You arrive to be greeted by glam people relaxing by open fires and watching the sunset. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait to eat. An hour later still no table so when I asked how long it would be they said that they had called for us but thought we'd left...despite the fact we were sitting having a drink nearby. After another short wait we finally got a table indoors (despite asking for one outside). Then the wait continued. Others got served before us, we waited almost another hour for our food. By now it was dark and we were concerned about the rest of our drive because we wanted to get to Carmel in the daylight... No chance!! The waitress seemed more concerned with sipping wine at the bar and chatting with far wealthier customers than us. We got the bill and left (leaving zero tip). $93 out of pocket for pretty lacklustre food and the crummiest service we have experienced in our time in California.

See the view but avoid eating here at all costs!!

The food was good. The views are spectacular. We visited first for dinner and then for lunch. You will need to be patient as service can be slow. We used the time to relax and admire the view. They provide you with a great waiting area to pass the time.
