Every person suggested this restaurant when we told them we'd be driving through Big Sur. Just amazing views! We sat outside along the long wood table facing out. Every person there was just in awe of the beauty. The food was good and our server actually grew up in the area. I highly recommend this as a stop.

With tables that provide spectacular views of the Pacific, outdoor patios with firepits and fantastic food, no wonder this place is so popular. It seems that every seat has a great view and you can even see the whales migrating during the season! Plan on staying a while - it is a comfortable and beautiful place with excellent service. Prices are reasonable although a little on the high side, but the food is worth it, not to mention the views. Their trademark dish is the ambrosia burger - it is appropriately named!

Be sure to take a look at the Phoenix gift shop which is also located on the property - lots of interesting stuff!

We arrived before the restaurant opened so had 20 minutes to peruse the beautiful gift shop - it also allowed us to be able to easily find a place to park. (Driving an RV towing a car.) Our delicious lunch, served by a delightful and excellent waitstaff, under sunny blue skies while seated 800 feet above the Pacific Ocean with perfect mood-enhancing big-band music playing softly in the background. . . heaven on earth! My husband and I shared a sandwich - BLT with grilled prawns and a tomato jam - locally sourced foods - all mouthwateringly perfect. GO!

We didn't ask for much in the way of food: a chilled artichoke, tuna sandwich, and beet salad. We've had better servings of each elsewhere. But that is far from the point. The food is very much good enough, but the place...the venue...is fabulous. A "must see" on Rte 1 in Big Sur. We were not there for sunset, but if we ever had the chance, we would be.

We had dinner here our first night in Big Sur, but arrived after sunset. The food was good, and the atmosphere cozy. The second night we made sure to get there before sunset...we grabbed some hot cocktails & headed out. Amazing views, and we will definitely go back here next time we're in Big Sur!
