We stopped here for coffee and snacks while in the Big Sur area. Everything was great, and the atmosphere matched up well with the scenery outside.

Service was not what you would expect. The folks that were working behind the counter just didn't seem to appreciate the business. It's almost like they were volunteers that got stuck working the counter. Food was good.... a bit expensive.... wish they were nicer , I would have liked to give a better review.

We intended on coming here sooner, but we did not make it to the bakery until our last day when we were leaving. Since we had already eaten a big breakfast at Ventana Inn, we just bought a few goodies for the road. We enjoyed the 3 different cookies, but LOVED the blondie! It was fantastic! The people working at the bakery were really friendly, and they gave us a sample of some delicious iced tea. Next time we are in Big Sur, we will have to come back for a meal!

We just came back from a California Coast vacation. We have stopped at the Big Sur Bakery
For their out of this world pastries several times in the past. Once again we were amazed by the
Incredible baked goods. We were spending a night near by and made reservations for dinner at the restaurant. We were shocked by dinner! It was a lovely ambience-fire place, perfect lighting. The food was delicious and creative. The star was the lavender creme brûlée. The ingredients were local and the flavors were fresh and super yummy! The whole dinning experience was special.

Big Sur Bakery is great spot for a weekend brunch. Their weekday menu is expanded on the weekend with multiple sweet and savory choices. The omelet and brioche French toast were great and others nearby were commenting on how great the breakfast pizza was (bacon and three eggs on a wood fire baked pizza). There were multiple tasty bakery items that we had as "appetizers" while waiting for our brunch order.

You order inside at the counter and the food is brought to your table by waitstaff. There was quite a long line to order, but many people were ordering bakery items and coffee To Go. Service was slow, and waitstaff not the most attentive - a relatively long wait for parts of our order to arrive. We had to ask several times to get our coffee drinks and juice. We sat outside on a sunny morning, under shades strung across the picnic table area. A comfortable setting with mountains in the background, but not spectacular views. Indoors was a casual, rustic dining area in front of a fireplace.

We came back again for a weekday breakfast and were disappointed. The weekday menu was pretty limited, and the staff seemed somewhat disorganized and slow. It seemed to be more of a lunch place than breakfast, although, again, many people were lined up to get bakery items and coffee To Go.

We didn't try dinner here but the menu looked tempting. Overall worth a visit for weekend brunch, but I can't recommend weekday breakfast.
