We had the pleasure of dining here on a rainy evening during our recent trip. We got a spot right by the fireplace which was cozy and warm - perfect given the weather. We had an extremely tasty salad and frankly some of the best pizza to ever cross my lips (dry chorizo, who knew?!). Coupled with a bottle of central coast Syrah, couldn't be better. We couldn't pass up a shortbread crust cheesecake and espresso either. Service was very good, not exceptional. That said we had a lovely night. The prices were a touch on the higher side, but when you're located in the middle of CA Highway 1 and you are making excellent food and ambiance, I expect it to run a touch higher. We also scored ourselves a day old pastry complimentary for the next morning's drive. I would highly recommend and would dine here again on a future trip. Better food and experience than our previous evening at another nearby location.

I think we stopped in 4 times during a weekend in Big Sur. Amazing coffee and pastries... and the loveliest restaurant for dinner. Don't miss it!

After reading an article about the Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant in the NY Times, I stopped in for lunch on a recent drive with my teen daughters. Though we had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a table, we were rewarded with a terrific lunch in a beautiful garden setting. Nepenthe might have the view, but you won't beat Big Sur Bakery when it comes to taste.

We had heard unbelievable things about the Big Sur Bakery. We stopped for lattes to go and succumbed to a banana muffin, big enough for two. The lattes were perfect, down to the leaf design on the top! The setting may be rustic but the food is five star.

Phenomenal dinner menu & food. Make a reservation - we didn't and lucked out because they were very busy on a TUESDAY night in FEBRUARY. Would happily eat here again and highly recommend.
