We planned an entire trip to CA in order to stay at this resort. That usually leads to some disappointment but not this time. This place is amazing. Within two hours we were at peace and never wanted to leave. We arrive while there was still a think marine layer. It had been like that for our two days in Carmel as well. A bit of a let down to drive down the 1 and see nothing but white thick clouds. However, none of that really mattered once we showed up at Treebones. The place is so peaceful. To sit on the deck of your yurt and hear the sea lions talk to each other. All the staff is friendly and if you stay over a day they really start to know you. The bathrooms are always clean. The have flowers in the women bathroom. The pool though heated was still a bit cold for me. Restful sitting by pool reading a book and watching birds. Gift shop has snacks, things you may have forgotten and some souvenirs. The yurt themselves were extremely clean and comfortable. I loved the hand made soap provided. We were in yurt 8. We had a fireplace but it wasn't needed. The yurt did get warm in the day but we just kept the door open and popped the top, it cooled just fine. I didn't expect the yurts to be so close to each other but that didn't even matter. Yurt 8 I felt like we were away from everyone even though we weren't. The paper they provide with a short description of each trail in Big Sur is extremely helpful. Some of these hikes we wouldn't have known about without this paper. It gave great descriptions of them and directions from Treebones. Breakfast has make your own waffles. Scrabbled eggs, toast, and yogurt. After three mornings I was looking for something different but can understand the challenge there.
When our time was up we didn't want to leave. We are already trying to figure out how to come back soon. Thank you for amazing couple of days. We loved this place.
