The Roadhouse doesn't look impressive as you pass by but the food & service was fantastic! We had breakfast and both of us loved every bit of it. The grits were amazing and their iced cafe mocha was probably the best I've ever had.

“Quite surprising...Ambience was great...Food was even better!”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We were at the Ripplewood wood restort (next door), and walk over to the Big Sur Roadhouse and took a look at the menu, and checked out the place. It as local artwork on the walls, bright yet subdued colors, outdoor seating, a bar, and just awesome food.

Seems the chef was from the Louisiana (if I remember right) for had a couple of good stout/belgium style beers. The salmon was tender and had a slight bite to it with the spices the chef used. The meal from start to finish was exquisite and that was the last thing we expected being in what felt like a wilderness area, with tons of camping and barbecuing going on around us. So we were immensely surprised to find such a jewel of a location. Just thinking about it makes me hungry...

You won't be disappointed...

“Good food and friendly price”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Ate a dish with influences from Cajun culinary simply wonderful! Environment extremely well decorated and cozy - ideal for taking a wine and relax. Or recharge while traveling through the natural wonders of Big Sur, as was my case. And all this with a fair price.

“Great casual place to eat”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

We were staying at the Ventana and they recommended this little gem to us. The food was great and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and approachable. Our waiter was great.

I highly recommend you go for the small plates menu and just share everything. You can pretty much taste the entire menu for a reasonable price and eat the right amount of food to be full :). Its a really solid place.

“Nice Place in Big Sur”

We stayed at the Glen Oaks Big Sur that the restaurant is a part of and the dinner and breakfast we had there was fantastic. The prices are what you expect for one of a few restaurants within a quick drive.
