“OK food, poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

Five of us had lunch here. The wait person grudgingly allowed us to sit outside and we paid for it every minute. The service was poor and she was snippy. One person asked for potato salad and got fries instead, we didn't want the dose of attitude it would have taken to get the salad. The location was beautiful, but the poor service and the closed Latte' stand marred the experience.

“Whalers (I mean buyers) beware!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

If you are taking the iconic drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and you find yourself hungry, chances are you're going to pay more than you would a 7-11 off the freeway. And to be sure, a 7-11 would beat this place hands down.

My husband and I were there this past week and after passing a few crowded cafes, we decided our hunger had gotten the best of us. We pulled into this quaint looking cafe, admired the views and figured the food couldn't be that bad.

Boy were we wrong! After looking at the selections that were coming out around us we decided to go for the safe bet "nachos". At $10.95 we were expecting a beautiful pile of fabulously topped tortilla delights. What we got was a small plate of round chips that had been retro-waved to the point of rubbery. The salsa that was dumped over them was not too appealing nor was the microwaved refried beans plopped on the side. The whole meal reminded me of college days gone by when you came home at 2:00 am, popped in some chips and cheese and forgot you had done it until the next morning!

We washed these pucks of goo down with a warm coke that set us back another $7.00 - yes, that's right folks! $7.00 for two cans (yep cans) of coke.

The only bonus was the food came out 3.5 minutes after we ordered it and the waitress was pleasant enough.

Do yourself a favor and drive on past this sinking ship.....

“Expensive, nice food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

The food was pretty tasty but very overpriced like most of the other things associated with the cafe, ie the cabins, petrol pumps. We had the tomato pasta and salad, both were a fair size and tasted good.

“Roadside Cafe, Nice views, Slow Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is OK roadside diner cafe food, long wait and disenchanted staff that act busier than they really are. I will drive buy the next time and try somewhere else but if you frequent this area it is worth just going to check it off your list and not totally avoiding.

“Incredible view and okay food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Watching the whales while you eat is a blast. Service was slow and unprofessional and the food was ok. Good BBQ sauce, but lacked in freshness and healthy options.

I'm always sad when a place with such great views is compromised by lackluster food and service. Prices were high, which you could expect. I never mind paying more money for good food, but you are rally just paying for the view.

Also, a smidgen on the dirty side. I'd advocate the owners dine to see what their patrons are receiving.

At this place, it's all in the view!
