Driving down HWY 1 from Monterey to San Luis Obispo we discovered this wonderful gallery. As stated in another review, you just come around a curve and there it is!! Great artwork as well as wonderful gifts. Too early for lunch, but great Coffee/tea and cookies. View from the deck was fantastic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be back next time I am in the area.

Yes, it's the beautiful gallery in the middle of nowhere.

OK, not really, but Coast Gallery appears without warning on the inside of a curve in Big Sur on highway 1. To be honest, we stopped for coffee and a sandwich, but to our surprise found not just a gallery attached, but a really nice one, with a good variety of nice artwork including sculpture, glass, prints, and more. Above it is a little cafe with a deck with a super view. It's really worth the stop, even if you don't buy any art, (which we didn't).

Loved the gallery and the staff was very helpful and friendly. One of my favorite stops when driving down highway one. The cafe is open and has a wonderful view and reasonable food. A must see you won't regret it.

I have stopped here a number of times - whenever I drive up the coast to Big Sur. This is a very attractive gallery in a beautiful setting. There is everything here from expensive fine art (some by famous artists) to art and crafts by California artists that is quite creative and affordable (like handmade soap). Whether a person is decorating their multi-million dollar home, or you're a more average person (like me) and want a creative birthday or Christmas present, this is a great place to look. Don't judge the gallery by the expensive stuff that you first see when you enter the gallery. The gallery is deceptively large and the affordable stuff is more toward the back. I usually spend a lot of time just walking around the gallery and almost always leave with something I purchased. The people who work there are nice and always give me the lartest news on where the local condors are being seen! This is a must stop if you are in the area, and have any interest in art or crafts!

coast line is gorgeous ... we flew to Cali and started at big sur, yosemite, napa, and ended in San fran. big sur was all about the scenery ... the mountains and coastline. it was cold and foggy but cleared up somewhat. the view was lovely.
