“Loved the road ... nowhere to camp for the night”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

This is an incredible road. Make no mistake about that. It's easy to do, and not really as terrifying as going across Nacimiento-Ferguson. Yes, the views are astonishing, but you can get much of the same by going up the 'metal' road of Palo Colorado (with the sea views but with the redwoods.

My tip would be to have a crack at the first sections of both ends, and not bother with the middle. That is easier on the driver, and you get the views you want of Bixby and across Andrew Molera. Job done.

The shame is that there is nowhere to camp for the night on the duration - something you can get without the Police coming to move you on. Understandably, no open fires are allowed. You don't want to burn down the hillside by mistake!

We got no hassle parking for the night on Los Burros (Willow Creek Road) and there were quite a few camping.

Great road, but too many restrictions to make it fun and a relaxed experience.

The road is exhilarating to drive with superb views. Take every opportunity to stop and look. Make the most of any time that the fog doesn't intrude.

“FABULOUS VIEWS BUT NOT FOR EVERY CAR”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

The signs says road is impassable in wet weather, and they mean it. I would recommend something sturdier than a sedan any time of year. Road is rough, steep, and narrow. That said, it is a beautiful drive through redwood groves and mountain peaks. Amazing views from behind Bixby Bridge out to the water.
