It's important to set the right expectations when you visit this place. $160 a night is certainly not cheap, and sure, that amount of money can get you a lot more in some cities, but this is Big Sur, and lodging is limited (and therefore) expensive here. Knowing that, you can come to appreciate what you do get- a very clean and well maintained cabin in the woods, an unusually large room, and a quiet, relaxing spot to just get away!
Mind you there is no TV in the room, no WiFi, and spotty cell phone coverage. Which is exactly what I was looking for to have a great getaway from civilization. At night it's so dark that you see stars you didn't know were there!
My only complaint is the strange architectural decision to build a skylight directly over the bed. Bring an eye mask if you're prone to being woken up by light in the morning. Otherwise, just roll with it and get an early start to the day.
