Me and my girlfriend needed a place to stay on our way further down south on Riviera Maya and found this ... on a online bookingsite.

The presentation on the website did not reflect a bit of reality.

We traveled on a "road" with huge holes in it until we finally got to some kind of checkpoint that is located beside a massive construction site. The cab driver spoke to a guy working there and they let us pass (only construction traffic allowed, big machines etc)

When we finally arrived to the "hotel", located near this construction site, it was totally neglected and abandoned.

No guests, no staff, no nothing. Only wind and homeless dogs.

We left after 10 min and are currently in a mini process with the travel company for a refund.

We wouldnt even stay for free - you will be sorry if you go. I am not the picky type and have broad traveling experience.

Casa De Los Angeles is located on a beautiful secluded beach quite far away from town. In fact on our way there we didnt realize just how far away it was, and our taxi driver didnt quite know where he was going. That was a little frightening. When when we did arrive the staff was very helpful, arranged us cabs and rides into town and helped us with some confusion regarding our reservation and our bill. The beach is beautiful and you'll have it all to yourself. Good for a relaxing stay.

You need to know what you are getting into before booking this location. It is very remote, and you should plan on having a car. Because of nearby construction, the ride in is a bit intimidating, but the hotel is far away from the construction site and it will not impact your stay in the least.

This is an "eco hotel" with no electricity except in the evenings until 11:00, and no air conditioning. It's worth it to get a sea-facing room, as the breeze is better. On site people are very nice and try to be helpful, but bring your Spanish dictionary! Food was very good.

The beach is wonderful - walk for miles and see no one. Get up before dawn and you might see turtles returning to the sea after laying their eggs!

The nearby town (Puerto Morelos) has some great places to eat - try the Oasiz and the Cactus. Also, very cheap snorkeling excursions to a very, very good reef from the blue kiosk just on the NE corner of the town square. ATV rental available, too.

This provides an "authentic" Mexican experience, with no resort distractions. Bring a book or two and an ability to relax.

this really was in the middle of nowhere - past a huge construction site - actually though it!

very nice house - but in the wrong area.

if you like isolation this maybe for you - as long as you dont get scared been in a totally undeveloped area, and you have a hire car to take you to a restaurant or bar, or shop etc...about 15min drive

the staff member was a young man, didnt speak english, couldnt even call us a cab and we didnt have a number - we ended up having to hitch a ride in the back of a yute ( the yute was 1 of 2 cars we saw go past in an hour - just to give an idea of the isolation)

the main town, or in fact any civilsation is about a 15 minute drive away down a long dirt road with huge potholes...

rooms did look lovely, but there was no one there, and quite clearly they werent expecting us, even though we had a reservation. there was no sign of any one else, or a bar or restauarnt as described..

theres no way we could stay there as this guy was the only one there and since he didnt speak a word of english we didnt even know where we could get food, or drink! we would have had to walk for 30-40 minutes though a construction site with hundreds of workers...

i was so relieved when we got in that yute and into the town..

  • Liked — the rooms were very nicely finished
  • Disliked — the location and feeling unsafe

The Casa Los Angelos people contacted by e-mail were prompt and friendly to our inquiry, but did not require a deposit when our reservation was made one month prior to our arrival date. Our cab driver drove us there on a very remote and damaged road. It was past new construction south of El Cid. Laborers were off work on noon Saturday, and were on foot wandering around. Our cab driver said that he felt it was a very UNSAFE area. When we arrived, we found the property which matched the web-site pictures of Casa Los Angelos. It was abandoned and neglected. A resident from further south of Casa Los Angleos walked over and said that he had not seen anyone there for some time. I'm sorry that this is advertised on Trip Advisor, Expedia, etc. Obviously, no one has checked out this property lately.
