“Lovely small resort with great food!”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We spent four days at Zoetry and it was very enjoyable. It's a small resort which for us is better than the ones that are huge and it takes 15 minutes to get anywhere. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was gorgeous. The bed's are not hard (as someone mentioned), but very comfortable. I can't imagine how someone saw mold (as someone mentioned). They clean the rooms two to three times a day and they were spotless. The service was a big plus. Very friendly and a nice group of people. The food was also a very big plus, especially for a resort that is all-inclusive. Try the tortilla soup. The salsa was also exceptional. Sometimes the service wasn't fast - however, this is Mexico and you are on vacation. We had room service breakfast two mornings on our balcony overlooking the ocean - so fantastic. I saw that people complained about the fruit bowl...this is Mexico, and most of the fruit needs to be cut - papayas, cantaloupe, watermelon and persimmon. If you want fruit, order the room service and enjoy. The pool was nice and the beach was right there. One thing we liked was there wasn't obnoxious, loud entertainment. The entertainment one day was a man playing harp and one night two men were playing guitars. Beautiful and well done. We didn't leave the resort, but you easily could set up a trip with the hotel to venture to Talum, etc. We rolled cigars, bought a beautiful, customized, painted fruit bowl, drank great drinks by the pool and overall had a wonderful time. The spa is really nice. Expensive, but my massage treatment was very good. You can also use their jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as often as you'd like without a charge. There is yoga every day overlooking the water or on the pier. Our class was very good. Bring some one dollar bills with you to tip the wait staff and you'll find it even more enjoyable. Another big plus is that the resort is less than 20 minutes from the Cancun airport. An advantage if you only have a couple of days to vacation. If you like to eat healthy, organic delicious food, you will love it. The desserts and the drinks kind of negate the healthy options; however, that was our personal choice. Enjoy!

We just returned from our 7th visit to zoetry and it gets better and better with each visit. As soon as we arrive we are greeted, like family, by Sergio and Alan from the front desk. Everyone remembers your name and makes you feel so welcome. They do everything possible to handle any requests, such as having the specific room we love waiting for us with champagne and flowers and a handwriten note from Valter Espinoza, the general manager, welcoming us back. The food is excellent and the wait staff knows what you want even before you ask for it. Francisco at breakfast has our drink order in even before we sit and Raul's recommendations at Kaax for dinner were perfect. The captains, Cesar and Luis, greet you with your name and a smile every day. I can't even say enough about the beach and pool staff. Antonio had my coffee and cabana ready on the beach every morning when i arrived and majically appeared whenever you needed something. Eric, Miguel and Frederico were always ready to fulfill your every request. The hippo lounge was always our stop for drinks before dinner and Carlos and Alex made the best drinks. I'm sure I'm leaving out someone but there are just too many to name and we love you all. Even though the weather was not great this time we still had a fantastic trip due to all the people who work there. Just relaxing in the beautiful suite and having room service bring a bottle of wine was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the gounds and wildlife that surround you. Everything about Zoetry is perfect, especially the size. It's small and intimate, no crowds where you are just a number. We are planning our 8th visit for this May 2013. We've been to almost every island in the caribbean and bahamas and no where do you get treated better. The people are the warmest most welcoming which is why it feels like home and we can't wait to get back there!!

We chose Zoetry for our Honeymoon. The goal we set for the honeymoon was ten days of relaxation, no hectic schedule or site seeing and great food/service. Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita exceeded everyone one of our expectations.

We had two favorite experiences that stood out to us during our Honeymoon:

First, one that I encourage all to cherish, is your arrival. At arrival in the airport we were met by Jorge who helped us with luggage, gave us a cool towel and poured us a glass of champagne for the drive to the hotel. Once at the hotel we were greeted by Rafa, concierge, who took our bags and greeted us with cold ice tea as we toured the hotel facility. The view as you enter is breathtaking and you know that you are in paradise instantly. Nothing will beat that moment!! Cherish it!

Secondly, was the romantic dinner. If you have a chance to do a romantic dinner on the beach do so. Ask for Antonio to be your waiter. He was so wonderful and created the most romantic setting. We got to choose our dinner ahead of time so at arrival we were escorted to our seats, poured a glass of champagne and just let the evening unravel around us while watching the night sky, cruise ships, and feeling the sand in our toes. Great experience and highly recommended.

We would like to compliment the staff at Zoetry that made our stay so perfect. Every day we went to the beach or the pool. Both areas were equally beautiful and well kept. They had comfortable beds that made the day lounging by the pool luxurious. Besides the ambiance of the pool and beach, it was the staff that made it extra special. We would like to recognize Federico, Antonio, Eric, and Miguel. They were always available to help us with a drink or some food and even held our chairs for us in the morning so that we had our favorite spots. Most days we didn't even need to ask, the seats were already saved! Carlos at the pool bar makes an amazing CoCo LoCo and Lime Cooler. We highly recommend both! Also, at the end of the day, be sure to go back to Hippo's bar and see Manny. He has great insight into some great Tequila, try the 1921 Creme de Tequila... Delicious!!

Besides the outstanding experiences we had, Zoetry really does excel in most areas. They have activities every day, including Aqua Aerobics, Spanish lessons, Tequila tasting, wine tasting & more run by the great Alex Rivas. The days activities are all laid out for you in the Sundial newsletter that you get the night before. It's not like a Club Med where they have a score keeper watching beach volleyball and scavenger hunts for tote bags through the compound- really the only noise at the pool is when the Temezcatal leader (mayan ceremony) would come through blowing a conch shell at 11:30. Everything is come as you go and do as you wish - just be sure to sign up for some things, like the tastings and catamaran sail early because they fill up!

We did snorkeling out by the reef one day ($55 per person extra) which was ok. It was not necessarily a float on your belly and sun burn your back snorkel. It was a good amount of swimming from the boat to the reef, with strong surf. We saw a fair amount of sea life - but nothing crazy. It may depend on the conditions - just keep it in mind you'll need to break out the crawl stroke.

The salt water pool, in the Thelasso Center could be the best place on Earth. The pool has more salt than a pretzel factory and cures things you didnt even know you had wrong with you. Its warmer during the day - so try between 11am-4pm for the optimal experience. There is one hot tub, which isnt huge for an entire resort - but its relaxing, especially after dunking in the adjoining 20 degree shock pool.

The food. With only three options, it can get limited at times - but the quality is excellent. Breakfast at Kaax restaurant was our favorite - amazing service and a great view from the patio. You can order everything from eggs to melon with cottage cheese & coconut french toast. Lunch was also great - we usually ate from the pool menu which included choices from 2 of the restaurants. Get the Sikil roll, we did 20 times. Tacos are not on the menu - but you can get them & they're amazing. Dinner was great too, but after 10 days we found ourselves eating some of the same things over again. La Conoa is the fancy restaurant - with a dress code. Food was excellent, just maybe needs to change their menu a little more. Get the saboyan for dessert.

Overall, Zoetry is the place for you if you want relaxation, serenity & service with an all-inclusive. There is no music at all really, except for at night during cocktails they usually have a live musician sometimes we wished there was a little music at the pool, but you really dont need it. This is not the place if you want to relive the beer pong, funnelling days of spring break. It's perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries or even really expensive first dates. We loved it - come here!

After 5 days at Zoetry, I am already planning our return. The service was out of this world personal, the meals were truly amazing, and the facilities are very well appointed.
Service with a smile, as everyone else has pointed out, these guys really enjoy their work and go out of their way to make you feel pampered. I rarely heard a "sorry we can't do that" The poolside staff (shout out to Frederico!) keep you in comfort all day, from lunch menus to endless drinks, they are attentive to the max and always with a smile. There are three lunch restaurants and they will deliver you food poolside from any of them.
Food! I mean quality. I ordered the catch of the day poolside expecting a nice piece of fish. I got a whole red snapper that was tasty as can be! The menus change every night. The wait staff will oblige just about any request. I just couldn't believe we were at an all-inclusive that serves this level of culinary delight. A true highlight of an amazing experience!
Facilities at Zoetry are above and beyond. Mexican traditional elegance is the best way to describe the style. Large and comfortable. Don't go expecting a sleek and contemporary polish. This is old world elegance. The pool is heated and the loungers plentiful. Tip well and your server will save you place for the your entire stay! The beach is nice and again there plentiful comfortable loungers and cabanas. Relax and enjoy!
The only caveat I have is "the wine room dinner" DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! It is a waste of money. I have no idea why such a first class resort allows their staff to bamboozle their guests with this completely ridiculous bait and switch. Fool me once.....
See you at Zoetry!!!

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be about the same. No one was using their splash pools due to the water being too...

We had a very nice time at Paraiso but by no means would I say that we were blown away.

Pro's
Staff-Staff is amazing. Will go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Just really nice people who will remember your name after the first introduction.
Size- We really enjoyed the fact that Paraiso is smaller. Nothing was ever crowded and we never had to wait for anything. I also think the smaller size is a deterrent for many of the tourists that we were looking to avoid
Pool- The pool is beautiful and comfortable and easy to spend an entire fay being catered to as you look at the ocean. Only gripe was that the hot tub section wasnt considerably hotter than the pool. We had a few cool days when we were there and would have appreciated a true "hot tub"
Beach- Beach is clean and well kept. plenty of lounge chairs and tucked away from other larger resorts.
Location- Quick 20 minute ride from airport in our shuttle. Our driver was a few minutes late but not a big deal.
Grounds- Grounds are very well kept and beautiful. Lots of effort put into the fauna/flora.

Cons
Food- We would consider ourselves to be "foodies" and were a bit underwhelmed with all of our meals. We liked that there were no buffets but felt that the food had been "toned down" to suit a typical american palate (flavor/heat). I would have actually been more excited to eat authentic Mexican food prepared in a traditional fashion. Not talking Taco Bell but more along the lines of al pastor tacos with cilantro, onion and lime. I could do without a fancy quasi french preparation of surf and turf in favor of Mexican food with more flavor and soul. It was all "fine" but nothing truly exceptional. Be sure to get the catch of the day and the ceviches (ask for extra hot)
Rooms- Rooms are nice but they just didnt feel that comfortable or special. Lots of little issues (pump on the plunge pool sounded like a siren , drain in the shower was clogged, etc) None of these things were that big of a deal but I think I was just expecting a little more. Also, do not bother with plunge pool rooms. The pools are not heated, very shallow (2 feet) and just not worth the extra money. If I was to go back I would get a room on the third floor as close to beach as possible. Both guests and staff would walk right by our pool/patio and catch you off guard. Would have preferred more privacy.
Mosquitos- They only came out at dusk and dawn but they did put a damper on the trip. Would have to close our doors at night to avoid getting bitten and miss out on the ocean breeze and the sound of waves crashing.
Upselling- Lots of upselling around wine and cellar/romantic dinners. Its a little bit awkward and feels like you are being had a bit. The special dinners are not that special and not worth the extra money. Also, just drink Margaritas in Mexico and leave the 200 Cabernets for home.
Night life/entertainment- We were not looking for anything crazy but this place is dead at night. A little more life would have been appreciated

The biggest differentiator for Paraiso is size and that is not to be discounted. I dont think you will find another spot that is all inclusive and as small/exclusive as Paraiso. My biggest take away is that the food at all inclusives is never going to be "outstanding" so will probably opt for a pay as you go resort for our next trip.

Room Tip: Third foor thatched roof as close to water/beach as possible.
