Great vacation. 1/15-1/20 I've read some reviews saying the service was not good, staff not very friendly, we DID NOT experience that at all...
This resort is immaculate, very easy to get around-many of these resorts are so big you need to call for cart service. The beach was a disappointment. Not the calm cristal clear water we expected, nothing to do with the resort - beach itself was pristine.
The Restaurants--
-Lemongrass, sushi/hibachi- horrible
-Paramour, french- not great/not bad
-Cibu, Mediterranean, - Ala cart breakfast for preferred guests is excellent/ dinner very good
-Market cafe, buffet/ breakfast-awesome lunch-really good, dinner-okay
-Outside grill, great ceviche - sandwiches/ wings. Unfortunately, you need to not mind being attacked by pigeons...
- coco cafe, great coffee and snacks

Definitely recommend upgrading to beachfront, and taking advantage of roomservice - breakfast on the balcony at sunset- amazing.

Tip Tip Tip- all inclusive...sort of... bring $200-$250 in singles and fives
The staff absolutely expect tips. $2-$3 for the maid every day. $1 per drink is expected if you don't want to wait ten minutes for the next one. Drink servers near the pool and beach.. same thing.. $2-$3 at all meals.. not complaining..just saying... the staff work very hard and aren't paid much so if you can afford to tip...you should..they definitely appreciate it and you will benefit.

Also.. dont buy your souvenirs at the resort.. absolute rip off.. take the $19 per person bus tour to playa del carmen. If you are worried about it being safe.. DON'T Absolutely worth it....surprising upscale.. awesome restaurants..pharmacies all around dont need RX's ..cheap souvenirs literally 25% of what they would cost at the resort. We used olympus tours. Also look into the ferry that takes you to cozumel/ beautiful

After a mediocre experience at the Now Larimar resort in Punta Cana last January, we were very pleasantly surprised with our experience at the Now Sapphire in Riviera Cancun.

The food was very good. We didn't have a bad meal the entire time we were there. The resort grounds were beautiful and well-kept. The rooms were attractive and clean. The check-in experience was smooth, easy, and quick. The workers were friendly and always had a smile on their face (unlike other resorts we've visited). There was plenty of entertainment as well.

There were only two negatives. First, they advertised in-room wifi and apparently they were having some issues with this while we were there. Second, the weather could have been better. It was cloudy for most of our stay. Other than that, we had a great experience for a short winter getaway.

Now Sapphire was the best all-inclusive resort experience I have ever had. I was there for 1 week with 25 other people for a wedding (including all age ranges from seniors to 30+, 20+ and children) and there was something for everyone. Here are my highlights: excellent food in terms of quality, taste, choice (many different restaurants) and loved not having to make a reservation for meals; Friendly and prompt service from all staff; Great beach and plenty of chairs; Beautiful clean pool with an excellent swim-up bar and spots away from the music/bar as well; No up-sell for time shares.
The wedding was perfect - amazing staff on-site to do the wedding planning and organize every last detail. We had no issues whatsoever and the wedding was above and beyond our expectations (organization, food, venue, photographer, etc).
I recommend this resort for anyone looking to do an all-inclusive in Mexico, I will definitely be returning.

We had never been to Mexico before, just the Dominican. Things are more expensive here, but the quality of the resort is also much improved for a 4 star hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable, which was a lovely surprise! The buffet food was excellent. The French restaurant was good, Mexican, so so. We were not impressed that they would not let children in to the French restaurant :(
My son got married there and it was well done, beautiful weather, good music, excellent food, beautiful flowers, lovely ceremony!
The restaurant waiters were excellent. The bar staff were slow but pleasant, I don't think there were enough of them as they seemed to be working hard.
It is a gated resort but that means that it is safe. The taxi is extremely expensive, but you can barter the rate.
Puerto Morelos is just a walk down the beach, quaint little town, got some great deals.
It is a resort geared toward family vacations so within our group the young people had a great time but we parents also had a great time as the "kids" were able to go off and do their thing while we could lay back on the beach.
The beach is fabulous!!!! Powder white sand, best beach I've been on.
We felt very safe, which was important to most of us.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with lots of walking, pick one in the 1400 block. The 800 block is quieter(sout...

Big disappointment! My wife and I have been to high class resorts in the Caribbean and this is not one of them. Simply put, this resort is geared towards large groups, conferences and most importantly young party oriented college kids. We stayed in January of 2013 and found this to be very true. The staff and especially the front desk are extremely rude and not willing to assist in any way. They realize that you are stuck in a foreign country with no way out without a huge expense. This resort is not relaxing in any way unless you fit the profile of a young party animal. We assumed this was possible during spring break, but beware this is what this resort is based upon. There is also no leaving as the resort is locked down with a security guard and an iron gate. Also be aware that this is a very noisy resort and the staff does clean rooms around the clock with lots of noise. You will also hear every imaginable noise between the walls. Think twice before booking this resort. We would never ever be back.

Went there over the New Years holiday with friends/colleagues. Had a great time. The rooms are far better than the pictures show. The staff is ok everywhere except the restaurants where they are far better. This is an "all-inclusive" resort which means drinks and food are included. The bartenders are great; hard workers. Everything else is kind of focused on not just parting from you your money; they really want to rip you off for picking an all-inclusive resort. Cab fair to ANYWHERE is unreasonable because the cab drivers are expected to kick back to the resort. In fact, anyone who makes any money from dealing with the resort is expected to kick back to them as we found out playing golf. The food is ok, not great.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, even without a beach view

Spa -nice a bit pricy.

Room Tip: building #14 close to center of resort, yet tucked away from "traffic"
