Beautiful hotel, Fabulous food, Wonderful, kind, courteous staff. Loved the "no reservations" policy at the resturants. We ate at a nice place each of the 5 nights we were there with no waiting for a table. Sugar-white sand beach...a little seaweed, but they keep it cleaned up all day long. Great beach for swimming, but no so much if you wish to snorkle right off the hotel...no fish. Wonderful trip...we've been to Riviera Maya and Cozumel 7 times over the past 9 years and this was one of our best trips. Now Sapphhire rocks!

Just returned from one week stay on May 1, 2011. This is a nice, quiet hotel, compact not like some of the other larger ones. The Preferred status is a must-have, especially the Ocean Front suites. You have literally 10 ft of grass, then the beach. The Preferred Club pool is also excellent, found a Bali Bed every single day. No reservation system for A La Carte restaurants is excellent, only had to wait once and only for about 10 minutes max. With the Preferred status, you also get to have meals ocean front with A la carte service as well. Just as an aside, I discovered that I had left a very expensive white leather jacket in my room as I was on my way to the Airport. Once I arrived, I appealed to my Sunwing Agent, Jose, and he immediately called the resort and arranged for them to send my jacket by cab to the airport. I received it within 30 minutes. I am eternally grateful to Jose and to whoever took care of my dilemma at the hotel, Many, many thanks!

Room Tip: Go with Preferred Club Ocean Front room!

We had some many things to do at this resort. The entertainment, food, pool,
Zip lining, beautiful Ocean, staff was very friendly and most of them spoke
English.
We are planning on going back this year and take our grown children and their
family. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a romantic place to go.

My wife and I came down for a quick weekend on April 15, 2011 and really enjoyed ourselves. We are pretty realistic with our expecttations of all inclusives. (we expect them to be a 5 to 7). This resort surpassed those expectations. The rooms were spacious, the food was much better than expected, and the beach and pool were great. Being 15 minutes south means that you can get there quick but you are a ways from Xel-Ha (which is a must do). We hired a van for a few couple for $150 for the day and saw xel-ha and Talum. You can take a 45 minute walk from the resort to puerto morales which is an authentic fishing village. All in all, this resort comes highly recommended

My fiance and I just got back from a 7 night stay at the NOW Sapphire and we wish we didn't have to leave. It was our first time in Cancun and we had an amazing time. The best part of our stay was the service. ALL of the staff was wonderful: from the front desk, to the concierge, to the entertainment team, to the waiters, to cleaning staff, to the bar tenders. Everyone said hello (even when just walking past) and was very friendly.
We asked to get the preferred guest option as soon as we checked in but they were all booked for the week. Instead, they gave us coupons for wine, the spa, lobster, etc.
The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Our favorite restaurant was Lemongrass (Asian cuisine). We ate on both sides (the Hibachi and the traditional) and we enjoyed everything. I would definitely recommend the sushi and if you go to the traditional side, we recommend getting there around 6 or 6:30 so that you can eat outside. Also, the waitstaff will remember you if you tip well. We went to the Hibachi side one night and tipped the server there. We came back at the end of our vacation and he remembered us, said something to our new server and our new server gave us exceptional service. (You only have one sushi option on the Hibachi side but our server let us get something else. He also brought us drink samples and not anyone else at the table.) It's safe to say if you take care of the staff here, they'll take care of you!
We also really enjoyed the lobby bar in the evening. They have live music and our favorite bartenders were Oliver and Cesar! They are absolutely amazing. We never were empty handed and they kept us entertained all evening.
This resort is not the best for night life so if that's what you're looking for choose another. But if you are looking to relax, definitely stay here!

The resort itself is beautiful. Nice architecture, beautiful outdoor spaces with many fountains and beautiful gardens. Friendly staff. However ,bugs were in our mini fridge upon arrival... cleaned up quickly and fridge restocked. The beach is not the clear light blue water you expect in the Carribean.... about 15 to 20 ft.out from the shoreline is sea grass that continually washes up on beach throughout the day, making the ocean swim less than desirable. Military with guns on the beach was a bit unsettling as welll. Walking the beach is also difficult because of the sea grass washed up, once you walk away from the few resorts that maintain their beachfront.
Overall we had a decent week until the last night, when 3 out of the five of us woke with food poisoning from a shrimp dish in one of the nicer restaurants there. We had been careful all week not to eat any raw veggies, drank only visibly bottled water, ate only peeled fruit and stayed away from any unusual foods. The quality of the food in general was poor. My husband has been sick for over one week now and still has the "runs". We will never go back to Mexico. We should have listened to many friends who have experienced the same at other resorts and warned us not to go.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Thank you for sharing your observations on tripadvisor, it is very important for us to have our guests feedback.

We sincerely regret your husband got sick during your stay. We had no other reports about guests sick for any reason. I woud like to comment that the kitchen staff has strict food standard control for handling the food as well as hygienically standards, which are reviewed by the supervisor and an external Company.

We really hope to have another opportunity to welcome you again in the near future.

Sincerely yours,

I came back yesterday from a vacation at the Now Sapphire with my husband and another couple. Overall, my vacation was enjoyable, relaxing and very peaceful. The Now Sapphire is a beautiful resort. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, the food is excellent and the beach is gorgeous. Here are our top favorites and opportunities:
Favorites:
1. The food is excellent. Whether it is at the restaurants, snack bar or buffet ... the food is incredible. Normally I don't expect much at all-inclusive resorts for food quality and taste but this was definitely a wonderful surpise. We only had to wait one night at the Japanese restaurant but other then that, we had a table almost right away. One tip ... don't go to Japanese restaurant late at night. Although still delicious, the chef cooks at top speed and you miss the real "teppanyaki" experience.
2. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. Coming back to your room after a long day in the sun is refreshing. Also, the nightly turn down is a nice touch.
3. The best bartendar was Carmen who served the beach goers. She was friendly, attentive and fast. If I was able to only tip one person in the whole resort, I would have given her all my money. She should get a promotion and a raise.
4. Check in and check out was easy. A nice touch is the towels and drink they give you as soon as you arrive.
5. The hotel does a great job of "cleaning up" the drunk, beligerent people. As soon as someone gets out of hand, vomits or passes out in a public area, security and staff are quick to the scene to clean it up. It was impressive. Almost as if the person never even existed.
Opportunities:
1. They need more chairs at the beach and pools in the shade. You absolutely have to get up early (by 8:30 AM) to reserve a chair in the shade. When you don't, you are out of luck for most of the day and are annoyed at the people who have and do not come back to their spot 3-4 hours later. When you do manage to get up early and reserve a chair, you are obsessed with watching it like a hawk.
2. My husband and I did not upgrade to preferred. The main reasons were the price and that it was sold out for our first 2 nights. The couple we traveled with did. The main advantage is access to the adult pool and the ability to reserve chairs. The adult pool is serene and quiet. It feels like swimming in a library. If you enjoy this, then you will want access. To reserve chairs using the preferred service, you need to do it by 6 PM the previous day. If you remember, this is a huge advantage. However, we did not like the concept of "preferred" versus not. It felt elitist and enough so that we would avoid staying at a hotel that has the same concept.
3. The sauna is horrible. It looks like a concrete igloo and I would be worried that a family of lizards live in there. They should tear it down and replace it with a hot tub.
4. If you are looking for a lively vacation, don't go here. If you are looking to relax and unwind, this is the place for you. The hotel is not set up for "partiers". The lounge is dark and literally shuts down at 1. The disco is dead. Also, it is a small hotel so there is not very much to explore. However, again, if you want peace and serenity, this is the place to be.

Room Tip: Pay for oceanfront but maybe not preferred
