Went to this resort for 7 days starting September 2nd and returning September 9th. What an exceptional stay at the resort from the time we got there to the time we left.. The staff itself is truly amazing. My son had he wedding at the resort. The food was great at all the resturants. We ate at the Oceania on several occasions. One staff member from there really stood out his name was Orlando. He prepared us great meals and surprised with some special dishes. One of the restruants that really stood out was the French resturant. One night we went to eat there and we couldn't get in because there were seven of us. So we ended up going to the Mexican resturant. That evening the manager of the French resturant tracked me down and told me to come to his resturant another day and he would personnally take care of us. Well a few days passed and we did not go to that French resturant. So, he tracked us down by the pool and again offered to take care of us. We told him we would go to his resturant that evening. He set up a special seating and table for us. The food was excellant. What a great time we had there. The bartenders and servers were great. if you asked for a certain liquior and they didn't have it at that location they would try to find it for you. Our room was very nice with no mechanical or comfort issues. My son's wedding was great with no issues and the staff again was exceptional. With all these pluses it hard not to like this resort. Planing to go back in the near future.

We stayed at this resort for 10 nights in July and had a nice time.

Room: We started in a King Plunge Pool room (1142). The room was very clean with a few minor problems (broken celing fan & a broken curtain rod). Throughout the night we heard dishes clanging, employees talking on two-way radios, a lot of foot traffic, and kids stomping. Was way too noisy for our tastes. For an additional $450 (Adrienne said this was being given to us 50% off the normal rate), we decided to change rooms the second day. Our new room was 2512 and it was basically the same room but in a different building and on the top floor. Very little noise and much more enjoyable during the night. Several days our towels were not brought and we rarely received turn-down service. Or the "preferred snacks & drinks" that were to be brought to our room daily. This was a Preferred Club room with free WiFi ... Which I was always able to connect to in the room and poolside. The Preferred Club had nice afternoon sandwiches and the bar was very good. My only complaint is that it was to be used by preferred guests only and the gate with the key card slot was broke so basically anyone could enjoy the perks.

Beach: Gorgeous blue water but a lot of seaweed. Nice beach bar with swings. No waverunners are available - You have to take a 20-30 boat ride to obtain them.

Pool: We always had difficulty obtaining lounge chairs. We would arrive by 0800 and couldn't get a chair. The DJ is not good at all ... Would play a song for 30 seconds and then change. Every afternoon it's the same songs. Santiago is awesome and provided amazing service! The Entertainment Team lacks enthusiasm.

Food: We enjoyed all of the restaurants except for the Mexican dinner place. The menu was not to our liking nor was the food we ordered. Bordeaux and Portofino were amazing ... The Escargot was fabulous!! And we loved the Japanese restaurant - especially the outside garden area ... It's true serenity. Big shout out to Carlos, Iran, and Geraldo!!! And be prepared -- they do adhere to the dress codes listed.

All in all it was a nice vacation. The grounds and rooms were clean. The employees were all very nice, happy to accomodate, and always smiling.

Have just returned from my first visit to Cancun. Nine night stay from 11th to 20th September at Dreams Riviera. Stayed in a premium deluxe tropical/garden view room which was huge. Amazing resort, excellent facilities, friendly helpful staff, very clean, excellent food, I can't praise this hotel enough.

A visit to the French restaurant Bordeaux is an absolute must. It is the best hotel restaurant I have ever been to and if you're lucky enough to be waited on by the amazing David, then all the better! Fabulous food and staff.

Rained most days but hey it is rainy season and it didn't stop me from doing anything or enjoying my stay. I used the "in-hotel" travel compamy Amstar to book all of my excursions and they were excellent.

The only thing left to say is.........book yourself a stay at the Dreams Riviera Cancun.........it's a must!!

My wife and I just got back from a 1 week vacation from this resort and we can only praise the resort. Number 1 from the food to the resort itself and most importantly the people. I had read the review on this resort prior to traveling there and all the points listed are true. The resort is beautiful as well as great food. We had a ground floor room with a plunge pool, this was great , we really enjoyed it . We ate in all the restaurants and did not have a single complaint . But the most important thing about the resort is the people that work there. These people should be given a standing ovation. The work they put into the place is unbelievable, and they truly make it a point to assist you every way they can. This resort is on my list to return again. you will not regret this resort.

Room Tip: If you need Internet do not bother. is is useless. if you do need Internet, walk down to the beach turn left walk down the beach past the white wall until you get to the next resort, you will receive Internet there. it is not a strong signal but enough to send an email or picture.

Dreams is a beautiful resort with friendly staff and great service, we travelled with 2 toddlers a 2 and 3 yr old, the resort is not geared towards kids under 3 even though they have kids club i think it aimed at older children, to make it more family friendly they could have a creche for under 3's and more restaurants that are child friendly as the only one is the world cafe which after a while gets boring and does smell!! most of the other restaurants are formal and not suitable for little kids in my opinion

we had a room with plunge pool and it was well worth it as when we went back to room kids could still play in the room and we didnt have to worry about them running off every few mins.

we only got to try the asian restaurant which was ok but nothing special.the theme nights are good we especially enjoyed the mexican night.

the one downfall i would say with this resort is the check in process, we had just come off a 10 hour flight plus all the waiting in airport time etc, when we arrived in hotel you have to que to check in and this is a long process about 40 mins, with 2 small children this is a bit of a nightmare, on check in they didnt have our right details and then we had to wait an hour for our room to be ready, eventually it was sorted but we just wanted to get to our room and go asleep.
September is Mexico rainy season so we had plenty of rain but the odd day of sunshine too.

Bring lots of insect repelent and i had this thing called after bite which was amazing from boots in the uk, also everything in the hotel shop is a rip off, so bring plenty of sun lotion, snacks for kids etc as if you dont you will have to travel into cancun which cost $90.

we booked the day trip virgin ahoy through our rep(virgin holidays), this is not child friendly and to be honest is not worth the money, but we did go on a very stormy day

do visit the croc cun zoo, just up the very bumpy road but we really enjoyed that.

overall, lovely resort, lovely beach, nice staff, food ok, would i go back YES but to enjoy it better would go without the kids :) if you want to be in the heart of things stay in cancun as this hotel is out of the way.

Room Tip: hotel shop is very very expensive so bring plenty of supplies especially if travelling with kids, plunge pool room worth it. if you want quite room ask to be as far away from main foyer as they have shows on here at night. bring insect repelent!!
