“Very Relaxing”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Just returned. A beautiful week from the March 13 to the 20th. This our second stay once in 2010 and this year. We were in the preferred side of resort, room excellent with adult pool view and ocean. Service was very good, friendly staff as always. Pool bar excellent, met people from all over Canada, the USA and England. Food was excellent although all theme restaurants very good but found food salty. Had a fantastic trip. Very windy that week but the sun and heat made the difference. Beats snow any day. To all the staff great job. Resort highly recommended.

We went down to Now Jade for a week for a friend's wedding. This was our first trip to Mexico and could not have been more pleased with the trip. The Hotel staff was extremely friendly and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We did upgrade to preferred status which gave us access to the adults only pool and preferred lounge which was a plus. The room also was slightly larger with a hot tub on the balcony. This was great for some evening relaxation.

The staff in the preferred section were awesome. Ivan was great, always checking to see that we were enjoying our stay. Zepeda and Calixo, stationed at the Reef bar, were sure to keep us entertained and our drinks filled. All other staff members didn't hesitate to smile and say hello as they passed.

The food was great all around as well. Breakfast and lunch meals were enjoyable and all of our restaurant visits were without complaint. The variety of the food offered kept things interesting. Again, all wait staff were extremely friendly. The room service menu was great as well and we definitely took advantage of this service serveral times during the trip.

I think our favorite spot of the resort was at the Mix where we could have a few drinks outside and take in the sounds of the ocean. Darius was awesome, making us laugh and ensuring we were having fun during our stay. He even let us pick the music. He was definitely our favorite bar tender at the resort.

All in all our experience was excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to return and would definitely recommend the resort to any others considering a trip to this location.

Room Tip: The perks of the preferred section are worth it if you can get one of the rooms.

Our party of 4 had a good time, the food was fabulous with a great choice of places to eat and we always had our breakfast and lunch at Carnival Restaurant where we were looked after by a great waiter called Eric. Arrived late afternoon so didn't realise until we got up the next morning that our room overlooked a building site which worked 6 days a week from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. We were in building 2, our friends were ok because they were on the other side of the building. However, the rooms were lovely inside, very spacious, clean and the bathroom was fab! All in all a good holiday but we have been to better places for the money.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get an ocean view room not in building 2

We went to Now Jade with a group of 50 for a company incentive trip. We decided to upgrade to a preferred suite after reading other reviews. For us it was WELL WORTH THE EXTRA $100 a night. We were in room 7304, a corner ocean front room with a hot tub on the deck and a 2 room suite. We used the preferred lounge every day and enjoyed upgraded liquor, free wifi and great snacks. We also enjoyed the Preferred pool which was quiet and had cabanas that we secured each morning by 9 am.
The resort was beautiful, clean and easy to get around.
The food was good, not great. It is not a place for foodies, but if you lower your expectations it is fine. Breakfasts were excellent, dinner just average, French and Asian being our favorites.
The customer service was excellent.
Be sure to bring lots of dollar bills, a small tip goes along way at this resort.

Room Tip: Stay away from buildings 1, 2, 3 7, 8 ,9 are the best

So much to cover, so I'll put in laundry-list form:

1. Airport Transfer - fast, friendly, met at the resort by staff with hot refreshing towels.

2. Check-in - fast, friendly, & no problems at all. A big bonus - no "upselling" attempt. A very unexpected but nice plus.

3. Room - Beautiful. Had a Jr Oceanveiw ste. that had a wonderful view of the ocean and the pool area. Glad we didn't spend the extra $ for the oceanfront that our friends did. Unless hanging over the waterfront is important to you (and I understand that to some people, this is important) save money here & go for the "view" as opposed to the "front" suites. Lovely room, nicely appointed, more spacious than expected. As a matter of fact, our room was exactly like our friends who had "front" rooms at a higher price. Safe was big enough for quite a bit of stuff, could've put a laptop in there if we'd brought it. Jacuzzi tub was def big enough for 2, as was the shower.

4. Food - All restaurants were nicely decorated, well-staffed, & the food was very good. We sampled the Asian place twice, the Italian, the Mediterranean, & the French. TIP - Don't believe the maitre'd if he tells you to come back to the French restaurant 30 mins before closing - we did & the service wasn't so hot. Still, I'd go back to all the places we ate, incl. the buffet. It was much nicer than we expected although we only ate breakfast there. Ate lunch at the beachfront restaurant every day & although the menu never changes, it's still quite good.

5. Beach - didn't get any better than this! Always plenty of beach chairs & umbrellas for shade. There were several waitstaff taking drink orders & always, always somebody cleaning & raking the sand. Also took a couple of catamaran rides as one of our party was an accomplished sailor. Lotsa fun! Sat around the pool area a couple of times, but the music is really LOUD all the time there. Unless you're a 20-something into the drinking & pickup scene, stay on the beach. They had a kids area that was nice, too.

6. Housekeeping - Here's where they fell short. First day or so was fine but on about Day 3, we came back to the room @ 4:30pm & our room hadn't been done yet. Brought it to the attention of a housekeeper out in the hallway & she assured us it would be done in an hour. After taking a walk around the property, we returned after 1.25 hrs to find them still in there. Waited another 30 mins or so before they left just before 6:30 at night. And it hadn't been done very well. Bed was made, bathroom was wiped down, but the fridge went unstocked & I had to drink my morning coffee out of a water glass for the rest of the trip, even after bringing it to their attention. THAT'S why they didn't get any tips from us. Housekeeping needs to be brought up to standards of the price we paid to stay there!

7. Tips. OK, let's talk about tipping. Yeah, I know it's an "all-inclusive" but if you've ever talked to anyone that's been to one, or read even a couple of reviews on Trip Adv, you know that tipping is still kind-of expected by waitstaff & housekeeping. You are sure to get way better service (& liquor) when you tip a buck or two. So take a handful of singles & don't be afraid to use 'em. Those people work hard to make your vacation memorable.

8. The shows were surprisingly entertaining - we were again pleasantly surprised. Worth going to see them! The Mexican buffett supper was a winner, too.

9. All the staff was friendly, courteous, & helpful. You can't walk more than a couple of minutes without seeing someone pickup up trash, wiping down surfaces, etc. All the restrooms I visited were always clean. Quite a feat for a resort where you have so many people at one time.

10. Bar scene - not really what we went for but kinda fun anyway. Sports bar karaoke is fun to watch. Again, the resort fell a little short here in their beer selection - not nearly varied enough for my husband's taste. Would recommend adding a few more in their beer lineup: Guiness, Coors, maybe a few Mexican craft beers?

11. Checkout was again, friendly & fast. Made you want to come back again!

I realize this is an expensive place but I don't think any reasonable traveler would be disappointed by their stay here. I would definitley go back!

Room Tip: The further you are from the beach, the quieter your room will probably be.

Great time and a great place. If you choose to go, go to The Reef bar during the day. You will find Zepeda and Calixto two of the best Barman at Now, There is also Ivan who is always there to help. At night go to The MiX and enjoy the great drinks of Darius.

We stayed at the Now Jade Resort from 1 -10 March 2013. We had reserved two rooms and when we checked in we were assigned two rooms in Building # 3 on the third floor with a beautiful view of the pool and beach.

The resort is very beautiful and very well maintained. There are always people working to maintain the resort.

The rooms are beautiful and the maid came everyday in the morning to clean the rooms and did a very good job. The bathroom is beautiful with the rain shower.

The pools are so nice, infinity pools; you can swim and see the sea at the same time. Heaven! The water in the pool could be a little bit warmer!

The food at the buffet and restaurants is very good. The menus offer lot of choices for everyone. We never had to wait more that 5 minutes to get a table for four persons.
Our favourite was the Elegant French Restaurant “Mercure”, we went there three times. The snails, scallops, soup, filet mignon were very good.
Our second favourite was the Asian Restaurant “Spice”, we went twice. We did not eat that the Teppanyaki table, we order from the “a la carte” menu. You can order several appetizers (sushi, imperial rolls, salad ...).
The Italian Restaurant “Capers” was also very good. The Osso Bucco, the raviolis, the fish, Beef Carpaccio were very good.
The Mediterranean Restaurant “Cin Cin” was good too. The ambience in the restaurant is very nice.
The only restaurant that we did not like was the Mexican Restaurant “Tamarindo”. The food was not that good. I think they need to revisit the menu!
The Buffet Restaurant “Carnival” offers lots of variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We never eat there for dinner but we went to take a look at the buffet a few nights and it looked very good.
For lunch, we have four options, which is nice!
We went to the “a la carte” Restaurant “Castaways” which is open for lunch only, but during our stay, it was opened two nights as a Steak House Restaurant. The food is very good and you eat right next to the beach and the pool (Nachos, Fish Tacos, Cold Seafood Salad (Ceviche), Fried Calamari, Hamburgers…)
We also eat at the Buffet “Carnival” for lunch and there was a nice variety of good food.
We also eat a few times at the snack bar next to the adult pool on the preferred side where they served nachos, pizza and hot-dog.
You can also grab a sandwich at the “Coco Café”. The “Coco Café” is opened from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM and you can order your Cappuccino Café in the morning (which is very good) before heading to the breakfast buffet or try the smoothie of the day (banana, peach, mango…). The Café also served yummy desserts!
During our stay, a few nights, they closed the “Carnival” buffet and set out the buffet outside or in the theatre. It looks very nice and good!

There are several bars spread out throughout the resort; on the beach, at the pools, in the lobby and on the second floor on the shops.

The fitness center is very nice. We did not use the Spa but we visited and it was very nice.

I am a beach person and I can tell you the beach is amazing! The staffs cleaned the beach every morning. If you want to go swimming, enter into the water at the south of the resort and you will not find rocks. The water is warm!

We did do kayak and catamaran (sailing boat – Hobbies Cats). Very nice and the person “Puncho” was very nice there.

During the day, there are different activities that you can joined like water aerobic, Zumba class next to the pool, Volleyball on the beach, Kayak tour on the ocean, bicycle tour to Puerto Morelos…

A few nights, there were movies presented outside next to the kid club but we found that the movies were presented too early in the evening at 18h30. Almost no one came to watch the movies as they were eating there dinner at that time. But the setting was nice, they put beach chairs with towels and they set up a table with food (Pizza, hot-hog, popcorn, cold drinks and dessert...)

Puerto Morelos is only a 40 minutes walk from the resort. It is a cute little town from where you can take snorkelling boat tour or shop for souvenirs.

We loved the Now Jade Riviera Cancun Resort and we would return without hesitation. I wish I was there right now drinking a Margarita on the beautiful beach!

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the highest floor.
